RAVEN’S POV
“Let’s stop for a drink and something to eat. I’m f*****g starving.” Ricardo complained. “I haven’t eaten since this morning and it’s almost midnight.” I sighed.
“You know, to be the beta of Silver Blood, you really do a lot of bitching and moaning. Maybe I should reconsider your position.” I said with a smirk.
“Yeah right. There is no one built better for the job than I am and you know it. Besides, I’ve been your beta since before you became alpha,” Ricardo said. I shrugged. He wasn’t wrong. Aside from us being close friends, it was almost always the son of the current beta who would take their father’s place alongside the current alpha. My father was our alpha, and his father was my beta. We were born into our positions.
“Hey, there’s a spot. Let’s just stop here.” Eva, one of Silver Blood’s best warriors, pointed to a bar as we drove past it.
“Alright, fine,” I sighed. “But one of you is getting the bill this time.” I turned around and the second SUV following behind us followed suit. All ten of us climbed out of the vehicles and as I approached the door, something hit me like a ton of bricks.
I caught the scent of fresh, soothing water lilies. I have never been a lover of the smell of flowers, but this one was so different. It’s as if I could bathe in it and still need more.
“MATE!” I heard my wolf, Odin, growl. I froze in front of the door.
“Alpha Raven? Are you okay?” Derrick, another one of my trusted warriors asked. I turned around and they were all glaring at me with confusion.
“Hey, you okay, man? What’s wrong?” Ricardo questioned, placing his hand on my shoulder with a look of concern on his face.
“Nothing. It’s nothing.” I lied. One of them opened the door and we filed into the bar. It wasn’t all that packed, but it was busy. As I walked inside, the aroma got even stronger. I could hear Odin howling for joy as I scanned the room. It didn’t take long for me to spot her. Her eyes were already planted on me.
My breath hitched at the sight of her. It’s as if all the air in the room had but sucked out. I couldn’t control the growl that escaped me. She looked as shocked as I felt. She dropped the bottle that was in her hands, but even the strong smell of the alcohol couldn’t mask her beautifully sweet scent.
“Hey, let’s grab some beers. You all go find some tables. We’ll be right back.” I heard Ricardo instruct our warriors. They bowed their heads, but only slightly as to not direct too much attention to us, then walked off. Ricardo turned to me, eyes squinted.
“Alright, spill it. What the hell is going on with you?”
“Nothing. Let’s go get the beers.” I said, anxious to get closer to her.
She had disappeared behind the bar to clean up the glass from the bottle she had broken. When we got close, I fought back the powerful urge to reach out and touch her. The last thing I needed was a bar full of people accusing me of assaulting the hot bartender. When she stood back up, she looked at me with shock, then quickly looked away. Before myself or Ricardo could get our order in, a man stepped to the bar.
“Hey gorgeous. Long time, no see. Where have you been?” he asked the beautiful woman as he looked her up and down. She looked at him before rolling her eyes. It seemed as though she was fighting her need to look me in the eyes.
“What can I get for you, Javon?”
“Can I get a cup of you, please?” He leaned onto the bar and wiggled his brow. The two women next to him started faking a gag.
“Ew, Javon. Why are you here? Didn’t she dump your ass a few weeks ago?” the lady with the brown shoulder-length locs said. So this man was her ex. I immediately wanted to throw him across the room.
“It’s lovely to see you again too, Andrea,” the man sighed, annoyed.
“Actually it’s been at least a month and a half. Goddess, you’re like herpes. You just keep coming back.” Her snappy remark towards this clown made me proud. I was glad she wanted nothing to do with him.
“Oh, don’t be like that, Alondra. Didn’t we used to have a lot of fun together?” Alondra. What a beautiful name. It goes incredibly well with her insanely unique eyes.
“What can I get for you, gentlemen?” Alondra ignored the asshat that was bugging her and addressed Ricardo and I, however she continued to avoid eye contact with me.
“Can we get nine Coronas and limes and one Pepsi, please? We’d also like to order some food. Is the kitchen still open?” Ricardo asked. She turned to grab the beers and limes and I could not stop myself from staring at her gorgeous body. She’s tall, at least five feet seven, with light, honey-brown skin. She’s got long, dark wavy hair cascading down her back and just below that, a beautifully round ass. Her hips and thighs are accentuated by her tight denim jeans and her breasts are hugged by her black shirt. She wasn't showing much skin, but I craved to touch what little I could see.
“Mmm, that ass is as beautiful as ever.” The asshole reached over the bar to pinch her ass but before I could react, Alondra grabbed his hand without even looking. She turned slowly with his arm still in her grip.
“Touch me and you’ll lose this arm.” She spoke with a low, threatening tone- almost a growl. Her ability to feel him moving in on her and her speed surprised me. She smelled like a human, but moved and even almost sounded like a wolf.
“What’s the matter, Alondra? You used to like it when I touched you. AH! SON OF A b***h!” He tried leaning closer to her again but she twisted his arm with a smile on her face.
“You b***h!” At that, I had enough. I grabbed him by the back of his shirt and pulled him off the bar.
“Watch your f*****g mouth, bitch.” I growled into his ear.
“Hey! Random hot guy to the rescue!” the blonde girl said. “Alondra, do you know him?”
A bouncer walked over to us and looked at her. “They bothering you, ladies?”
“The tall, gorgeous one was helping Alondra not get sexually harrassed by that jackass,” the dark-haired girl at the bar said. I shoved him into the bouncer and he escorted him out of the bar. I looked at the man suspiciously as he was dragged out. He was still holding onto his arm, wincing in pain. Was her grip really that strong on him?
While her ex-boyfriend was much smaller than me in stature, he was no small man. She merely gripped his arm and had him whining about the pain. I walked back to the bar and caught a quick glimpse of her stunning eyes on me before she turned away again. She placed the last of the beers on a tray and called for a waitress.
“Please take these beers to their tables, babe,” she said to the short young woman.
“Sure thing, Alondra! Gentlemen, point me in the right direction!” She winked at us as she picked up the large tray with all the beers, Pepsi and a bowl of limes. I turned to look at Alondra again, but she was still avoiding eye contact with me as she wiped down a clean bar.
“Girl, those two are ten kinds of fine! They almost make me wanna go back to d**k…almost!” the redhead said as we walked away. Ricardo looked at me and we both chuckled.
“How many times have I told you boys that I don’t drink beer? I may hang out with you all, but I am still a girl who prefers her frilly fruity drinks. I hate beer, especially this shit.” Eva complained.
“Well then, just order another drink.” Ricardo said, rolling his eyes as he chugged his beer.
“What do you suggest, ma’am?” Eva asked the waitress.
“Well, Alondra is the best bartender in this place. I’m just she can whip you up a frilly fruity drink you might like. Those are my favorites too,” the girl giggled.
Eva agreed to let Alondra make her any drink and we all placed food orders. After about ten minutes or so, the waitress, along with a man, came over with trays full of food for both our tables, including Eva’s drink.
“So, what’s this?” Eva asked, checking the drink out.
“It’s a tropical sangria!” the bubbly woman said. She described the ingredients and waited for Eva to taste it with a giant grin on her face. “Good, right?” Eva’s eyes grew wide.
“It’s amazing! Where is this Alondra? I have got to thank her for such a bomb-ass drink!” The waitress turned toward the bar and waved her down. I watched Alondra as her eyes moved to me, then back to her. She shook her head quietly in protest.
“Come over here, Alondra! She wants to thank you for the drink!” She reluctantly came from behind the bar leaving the second bartender to take the orders. I watched her walk toward my table, still trying hard not to look me in the eyes. She stopped only inches away from me and I almost lost my mind.
“Alondra? Girl, this drink is amazing! Thank you so much! You are a master for sure!” Eva gushed, taking a long sip of the red drink.
“I’m glad you’re enjoying it,” she said, hesitantly. I could tell she was uncomfortable. The waitress walked away and before Alondra could follow her, Eva asked her a question.
“Is there coconut rum in here?”
“Very little. I’m not a superfan of it so I only use a little. It’s mostly pineapple vodka,” she said. My gaze stayed on her and my wolf was practically screaming for me to touch her. I could hear her heart pounding in her chest. Without any warning, I grabbed her wrist. For a moment, she didn’t pull away. Her eyes shot straight to mine and I found myself drowning in her gaze.
“Mine,” a deep growl slipped from my lips and she leaned in close, her face only an inch or two from mine.
“Like hell I am.”
