Jace - POV
Tobi was passed out on my couch in my office, snoring louder and louder. I decided to walk back to my floor—the 7th floor. I was sure my mate was fast asleep. Making love to her was the best thing that’s ever happened to me. Hearing her moan my name and whimper made me rock hard. I didn’t want to scare or scar her, so I held back and fought off Jaxx, who wanted to take over. But we both knew—she’s not ready for that.
I ran up the stairs two at a time and was shocked to see that Matthew was not outside the door as I had instructed him. I flung the door open, and she wasn’t there. Panic flooded me. Had the wolves from earlier somehow gotten to my mate?
I grabbed my phone from the nightstand—it was 05:30. I tried to mindlink Matthew, but his walls were up. Jaxx had had enough. H
