Olive – POV
Jace and I went swimming in the lake, followed by a beautiful picnic under the shade of a tall oak. It was honestly one of the best days of my life. I laughed so hard my cheeks hurt, and for the first time in forever, I felt free. I noticed Jace’s eyes glaze over for a moment, and I wondered who he was mindlinking. Before I could ask, he pulled me gently onto his lap, his hands warm as they covered my eyes.
“I have a surprise for you… two actually,” he whispered.
I blushed furiously, realizing how close we were—me in just my bikini and him shirtless. Would I ever get used to being so close to someone I was slowly but undeniably falling for? I heard footsteps approaching. Two pairs.
“Okay, my love… one, two, three! Surprise!”
When Jace dropped his hands, I blinked and froze
