Chapter 8: "The Escape"

Kampala, Uganda. 2005.

Kofi's head spun as he tried to remember what had happened. He had been in the back room of the shop, being interrogated by Mr. Okello. And then...and then everything had gone black.

As Kofi slowly came to, he realized that he was being carried by Akua. They were running through the crowded streets of Kampala, dodging vendors and shoppers as they went.

Kofi's head was spinning, but he knew that they had to get away from Mr. Okello. He had a feeling that Mr. Okello was not going to give up easily.

As they ran, Kofi saw that they were heading towards the outskirts of the city. The buildings were becoming more and more run-down, and the streets were becoming increasingly deserted.

Kofi's heart was pounding as he realized that they were heading into the unknown. But he knew that they had to keep moving. They had to get as far away from Mr. Okello as possible.

As they turned a corner, Kofi saw a figure waiting for them in the shadows. It was a woman, dressed in a long coat and a wide-brimmed hat.

"Welcome, Kofi and Akua," the woman said, her voice low and mysterious. "I've been waiting for you."

Kofi's heart skipped a beat as he realized that this woman must be the one who had been helping them. But who was she? And what did she want from them?

As Kofi looked at the woman, he saw that she was holding a small bag. She handed it to Akua, who opened it and pulled out a handful of food and a bottle of water.

"Eat and drink," the woman said. "You'll need your strength for what's ahead."

Kofi's heart was pounding as he realized that they were in for a wild ride. But he was ready. He was ready to do whatever it took to survive.

As they ate and drank, Kofi couldn't help but wonder what lay ahead. Who was this mysterious woman? And what did she have planned for them?

And then, just as they were finishing up, the woman spoke up.

"It's time to go," she said. "We have a long journey ahead of us. And we're not the only ones who are looking for Kofi's sister."

Kofi's heart skipped a beat as he realized that they were in grave danger. But he was ready. He was ready to face whatever lay ahead.

As they set off into the unknown, Kofi couldn't help but wonder what lay ahead. Would they find Ama? And what dangers would they face along the way?
