Caylan

2243 Words
I don't know how much more of this I can take. Seeing Caylan at school and acting like I don't know that she killed Marcus plus two officers that were at the station when she set it ablaze not including the other officers who were hurt before the building fell. I have been able to control my witch fire so I don't look like Christmas lights sparkling. After school, I come home and let my anger out on the soda cans. I've gotten so good at it that I can make a purple tornado lift one of the cans off the fence then all I have to do is raise one hand and it dissipates. Dylan keeps talking about wanting to marry me, but right now isn't the time to talk about it doesn't he understand our lives are in danger. Not including the fact that we're seventeen, well he is. I'll be next weekend. But still, we are too young!!  I'm still working on my ancestry tree. I've only gotten some things on dad's side, nothing special is the same with mom's side. I haven't checked it in a couple of days so maybe there might be something new this time.                                                                              Blessed Be,                                                                                Mohani     I go over to my desk and type in Ancestry.com then type in my username and password. When it finishes loading I notice that dad has gotten one more leaf, so I move the cursor over and click it. What shows up looks like a birth certificate. I maneuver the cursor over to blow the picture up. I immediately regretted it right after I did it. It is Caylan's birth certificate with my dad listed as her father. I jump up so fast my chair falls backward I fling open my bedroom door yelling for my mom. She makes her way up the stairs in no time "What's wrong Kiera did you hear something," She asks. All I could do was shake my head no with tears streaming down my face once again. I pick up the computer chair and point to the birth certificate that is still on the computer. The only words out of mom's mouth, "Oh well ok then," She says calmly."I think we need to call your father right now," Mom orders. I reach for my phone that's laying on my bed and push the speed dial button for my dad. "Hey Lady Bug this is a nice surprise, how are you doing," He asks cheerfully. "Umm not that well dad, I need to ask you a serious question,"  "Oh ok is this the type of question that I need to sit down for," "Yea dad it might be," "Ok, so what's this question that's so serious that I need to sit down for," "Well dad I was doing my ancestry and something interesting popped up under your name," "Oh yea what was it," "A birth certificate with the name Caylan Adair was on it and listed your name as the father," "Adair, you said?" Dad asked."I dated a girl before I met your mom with the last name Adair that was back in nineteen ninety-seven, but she never mentioned that she was pregnant," "So you didn't know you had another daughter," "Kiera as far as I'm concerned you're my one and only daughter," "Thanks, Dad, I love you too." After that, we hung up, and I looked over at my mom who was sitting in my desk chair staring at me with a smile on her face she already knew and was happy with the outcome of the conversation that I just had with my dad."So he didn't know he had another daughter," Mom asks already knowing the answer, I thought I caught a little sparkle in her eye. "No he didn't know about her, he said he had dated a girl before you with the last name Adair, but she didn't say anything," "Well, that makes me feel a little bit better that he didn't know and never told me," "I still don't like the fact that this crazy chick is my sister mom," "Only half-sister and you don't even have to claim her,"   Mom then heads off to her room while I climb into bed and text Dylan to see how the circle went tonight since I couldn't. "Hey, how did the circle go tonight without me," I ask. "Went well except there was no levitating tonight. How are you and your mom holding up," "As well as we can especially after the latest event," "What event is that," "Just found out that Caylan is my half-sister thanks to my dad," "No way that sucks," "Come by tomorrow so I can feel you in more," "Ok, goodnight love you." "Love you too." I put my phone on the end table beside me then snuggle up in my blankets, as I'm drifting off to sleep Caylan's voice starts laughing in my head no words just laughter then all of a sudden the alarm goes off. There is someone on our property then just as fast as the alarm sounded it stopped, I jumped out of bed and ran to my bedroom window to see one of our trees on fire. A few seconds later I see mom running out toward the tree that's on fire finally I hear her stop cussing and start thinking of the words to put the fire out and restore the tree back to the way it was. Just as fast as she thought of the words the fire was out. At that moment I realized how much more I needed to learn from her. I hear her come back inside the house as I'm waiting in the hallway in front of her bedroom as she approaches the hallway I reach out and give her a giant hug, as she hugs me back she says "It's ok the tree is fine and no one was hurt thankfully. She is obviously trying to scare us and it's not working," "I know, mom, can you teach me some more spells tomorrow I just realized there is a lot more that I need to learn," "Of course I will, now go back to bed and rest up."  We both headed back to our rooms the rest of the night was silent thankfully. Sunday morning I wake up well-rested and ready to take on the day. While mom was in bed I made her some breakfast and brought it to her while she was in bed. As I step into her room I see mom is already awake but sitting in bed working on some papers."Morning mom thought you would like a nice breakfast in bed," "That's nice of you, I am a little hungry," She says moving her work out of the way so I could sit the breakfast tray over her lap."Ok, so what do you want," "Nothing mom just thought I would be nice and let you have breakfast in bed and relax a little," "Ok, so where's your food?" Mom asks."I'll be back in a second," I say as I head back down to retrieve my food that was sitting on the table then I head back up to mom's room so we both can eat our breakfast in bed. Later that day we went over to Lilith's house to start planning on how we were going to stop Caylan. "I think since Kiera is the strongest she should be the one to stop her," Dylan chimes in. "Me oh no!" I declare."I'm just learning how to control my new powers, you can't ask me to do that," Lilith looks over at me. "He isn't wrong Kiera you are the strongest out of us, so if it came down to it you would have to fight." I look over at mom and she just nods her head in agreement with Lilith. "I'm sorry kiddo but she is right," "Mom I'm not ready to take on anyone!" "We don't know when she is going to show up so that means you still have time to practice and you can't sit there and tell me your powers haven't grown," Mom argues. I just sit back in my chair and pout a little. Dylan comes overreaches down and takes my hand then leads me into the kitchen."Hey, it's going to be ok, it might not even come to you fighting her," He says trying to reassure me as he hands me a bottle of water. "Our moms will be able to stop her no doubt, all we would need you for is to tell us when she is coming," He bends down to give me a kiss then we head back to where our moms were still talking in the living room. "Ok, I'm in," I announce as I sit back down on Lilith's big comfy chair. "Are you sure?" Mom asks."Yes, I'm sure." I answer her." Can't let Caylan hurt my family now can I," "Well, why don't we take Kiera out for her birthday today since you two have school tomorrow," Lilith announces. "Sounds good," Mom says. "But first I got to make a stop at the house so we all can just ride in my car," We all pile into mom's car and start heading for our house. "So mom what is it that you need to get from the house," I ask. "I want to pick up my camera if that is alright with you," She says sarcastically. As we drive along main street heading to the house I see Caylan filling a gas can up at the gas station that's right across the street from the school. I decided to just concentrate on her. I find it easier to pick up on what they are thinking when I single that person out. "So who's place do I hit tonight, definitely not little miss perfect Kiera's house I got big plans for her and her mother. I've already hit Lilith's, I know how about Kiera's bestie Cassie that sounds like fun," She tells herself then laughs."Oh my god! I cry out. "What is it, "Dylan says as mom pulls into our long driveway. "Caylan is going to attack Cassie tonight, I just saw her at the gas station," "We will call her as soon as we get into the house," Mom says as we all climb out of the car. Mom turns to me."Kiera, do you have your keys on you? I left mine in the car," I get my keys from my purse and open the door up but as soon as I step through it."Surprise!!" all of my friends jumped out of where they were hiding. I turn to mom. "You threw me a surprise party," I ask cheerfully. "Lilith and I have been planning it for weeks now," Mom admits. I give her a hug then over to Lilith. "I didn't tell Dylan about it I knew he would have told you," She whispers into my ear. This was one of the best birthday parties I've ever had which lasted late into the night. I know it would have lasted early into the morning if we didn't have school the next morning. School for the first time in a long time dragged on and on Cassie had to wake me up in just about every class and I in turn had to wake her up.  My whole coven dragged ourselves across the street to the convenience store for lunch and to get us some caffeine, I decided on a bottle of five-hour energy and some coffee. Cassie and Dylan follow suit with the five-hour drink and coffee, the other ones decide to just get some coffee. We all start to head back to school when Caylan walks into the store. "Well hello all this is a surprise, it's Kiera and the g**g, she laughs. Then walks past us, I just chuckle and head back to school. "Ok, what's the deal, why isn't she in school," Cassie asks what everyone else was wondering."Because she has already graduated school she is nineteen, she only pretended to be our age to get close to us," I broadcast. "Oh hey, sis," Caylan yells out of the door of the store. "Sorry I didn't make it to your birthday party last night. I was busy, but happy birthday," Then she heads back inside."Hang on," Karley yells. "That crazy chick is your sister," "Only half-sister thanks to my dad, and I only just found out," I whine. "Wow, I'm so sorry Kiera that stinks," Cassie says comfortingly. "Thanks, Cas," I say. Thankfully we make it back to the school with no other interruptions from Caylan, and luckily the rest of the school day flew by. I headed home to find that mom was already home from work and she was outside tending to the garden outback. "Hey mom, you're home early," I say as I kiss her cheek. "Yes, it was. I like the short days. Did you see they finally started work on the new station today," She asks cheerfully? "I did soon you'll be out of city hall and back into your own building again." I sit down and help her pull out the weeds in the vegetable garden while she works on the herb garden. While I proceed to tell her about the run-in with Caylan today at lunch and how she knew that we were sisters.
