Chapter 5

Danita’s POV

I was shocked with what Sky have just said. The fact that I have stormed on her like that gave her too many reasons to be mad at me. So I immediately said sorry and run off inside the school. I got in to our classroom for first period. Knowing Sky will be our classmate I decided to keep looking down and stay quiet.

When Sky entered the room she was definitely was looking at me. I decided to not look at her just to make sure that she won’t get too angry at me. Which Amber, my best-est best friend had noticed.

“Dani, what did you do this time?”

“Nothing. Just let it be. Please. Just don’t.”

With my plea Amber decided to shut up and let me be. The whole time we’re there the only thing that I was thinking was what I did in the parking lot. I don’t know what had gotten in to me to do such thing. But I don’t know why I’m feeling this way.

Sky’s POV

Today had gotten too strange. First, that beautiful blond Cleo went to me and directly gave her number, and then Danita burst out like a jealous girlfriend. Damn! Girls here at Rocksfort are odd. But Cleo will do just fine, if I ever want to have some fun here. Well, Danita will do too but she annoys me too much.

Speaking of, there is Dani seated next to my vacant chair. Funny how she pretends to not be bothered by my presence. It’s cute thou, I never thought she can do such besides all her weirdness. Oh well. Too much for being normal. I think I suck at it.

‘Then why not accept that you’re not normal.’ This voice on my head started talking. That would be my wolf. I have shut her down since my parents died. I can’t believe I’m loosing control now. ‘I am not yet prepared for this. Not now not ever. It’s because of you why my parents died.’ I treat my wolf as an enemy and shut her off again. I hope she wont try to talk to me again. She tends to be so irritating, most of the time.

First period went by without a word from Danita. While some of our classmates are talking to me now. I think it’s bizarre for me to think of her. I guess, I just miss her irritating me. Which is weird, considering the fact that she just went screaming on my face earlier. Maybe I can let her go this time.

When second period started the teacher announced that we will be partnering with one of our classmates for a project for the day and an assignment that will be submitted on Monday. I wonder how we will be choosing our partners and who will my partner be. Then Mr. Smith called my name and said that I will be partnered with Cleo; starting with our names, he continued announcing the other pairs until the end.

The whole class started moving to their partners right after they found out who their partners are. And when all were settled, he informed us what we need to do and to start immediately. I was looking at Cleo when she stared at me and started talking.

“Hey. So we’re partners.”

“It seems so. Hmm. By the way, may I just ask, why did you suddenly came up to me earlier today?”

“Oh, that. Well, I just felt the need to talk to you that’s all.”

“Huh. Right then. Let’s do this.”

We proceeded to the activity Mr. Smith had given us and continued in knowing about each other. When we were almost done with the activity, the teacher informed us that we still have 15 minutes to finalize our work. Cleo just smiled and said that she’s happy to have me as her partner because it was the first time that she had ever finished an activity before the time limit. I told her that I was glad too and that we’re already done. She gave me a pat on the shoulder and asked me what time tomorrow will I be available to do the assignment. I gave her a time and agreed with it.

That’s literally all that happened for the first half of my day. During lunch time, Cleo offered me to stay at their table but I declined her and said I have my own place on the field. When lunch was over. The rest of my day stayed perfectly well. I guess, that will be fine considering that I won’t be having a normal dinner later on.

A few ours later.

‘Hey! Sky aren’t you done yet’ my sister shouts at me trough our mind link. When she didn’t received any reply she went to my room to check on me. But I am no where to getting done cause I am still laying on my bed and haven’t moved an inch.

“Skylar, what are you doing”

“Laying on my bed.”

“Yeah. I could see that. So what the hell is your problem?”

“Do I really need to go?” I said with plea.

“Yes we do. We have decided on this and it’s final. So please, for your own sake. Go get ready.”

Well. I love her too much. And that sucks, because I pulled myself off the bed and went straight to shower. My sister smiled and said thank you. But all I did was ignore her because I can’t stand her sweetness. Right after shower I decided to wear my pair of black lingerie my favorite black fitted pants and a black top with my biker jacket and boots. Damn! I’m so gorgeous. And with an instance my sister shouted. ‘yes, you re so come down here now so that we could go now.’

I went down, smiling like an i***t and hugged my sister. Telling her how lucky I am to have her. She said I know, like how she always do and then gave me her car keys for me to start the engine while she secure the locks before we leave. And when she’s done, we were off to the pack house at Palm Street.

Danita’s POV

After first period I was relive to know that Sky was not mad at me. Which is weird, but that is better that have her angry at me. The rest of my other classes when by normally while I’m thinking why I acted so strange when I saw Sky talking to Cleo. I never thought that someone could possibly make me feel that way. Which is kinda awkward because we’re not together.

Come lunch time I saw them talking again, and I felt like cheated on. But when I saw Cleo got pissed off when Sky left made me happy. I can even feel my chest lighten as if I could breathe better knowing that they’re not together. And when I turned to Amber, she was giving me a questioning look.  Knowing that I owe her an explanation, I promised to have a sleep over at our place and I will tell her everything.

Amber agreed with the sleep over and immediately took her cell phone out of her pocket to text her parents about the sleepover. Our parents are already used to our sleepovers but we still ask permission so that they won’t worry. So right after the last period, she pulled me out of the room trough the hallway and out on the parking lot. We were amongst the first once to live the campus in a hurry.

We where already on our way to my place when amber said sorry for dragging me out of the school like that. I said it’s okay and told her I understand. She’s like my sister so how can I even get angry with her. Certainly, she just wants to know what is going on with me. So when we reach the house, I just told my mom that I’m home and we went straight to my room.

Up on my room I sat down the bed with my back on the wall. Amber settled herself laying on the bed facing me. Then she said ‘So’ as if asking me what I am waiting for. I cleared my throat and asked her to promise that she won’t react until I’m done talking.

Sky’s POV

It was a 15 minute ride going to the pack house and a 5 minute run in wolf form. My sister parked the car near the entrance along with the other cars located in front. The house looks small on the outside. I’d say, it can only accommodate 15 people at most. But I’m ready to be surprised.

My sister took hold of my hand and led the way to the door. We knocked and was greeted by a maid that led us to a study. While on our way, I scanned the place. And got surprised when the house seemed to be larger inside than what I thought of.

The door opened to a room full of books from the floor to the ceiling and in the middle seated a large Victorian desk and chairs with carvings. She informed us to wait for a while and that the alpha with his wife is on their way to meet us. 

I am a sucker for vintage, so when the door closed, I decided to check on the Victorian desk. Down on my knees with my face so close to the table when the door opened that caught me off guard. I was already standing up when the door closed again while the alpha and his wife walked towards us. They greeted us good evening with smiles on their faces. We greeted them as well and we all got seated on the seats available. 

“I am glad to see both of you here tonight. We expect that you girls have accepted our offer?” the alpha spoke to us as if he has been anticipating us joining their pack.  

“Yes, alpha. We have decided. And we will be joining your pack.” my sister answered with respect.  

“The two of you will be great addition to the pack. I am sure everyone will be happy to have you both.” The Luna gave us a piece of her mind.  

Then the alpha informed us that the ceremony will start at once and let us to the backyard where everyone was waiting for us. The alpha announced our names to everyone and told them that we will be part of the pack. He asked us to stand in front of him and then started the ceremony, we promised ourselves to the pack and to protect everyone that’s in it. 

Everything was going great. We were done saying our vows and were already accepted to the pack when I saw a familiar face on the back of our new alpha. Cleo was standing next to the Luna while staring right at me. Then, my sister holds my hand and when I looked at her, I could see happiness and satisfaction in her eyes which made me happy. But then the alpha got our attention by asking us to shift infront of everyone for them all to recognize us.  

Damn! This is unexpected. Me and my sister exchange looks. When it took us too long, our Luna asked if there’s something wrong. But before my sister could say a word, I said no. I told my sister that she could go first. Which she have done perfectly. Everyone gazed at her beautiful bluish fur.

I on the other hand was still on my human form. Alpha Patrick noticed this and asked why am I not yet shifting. I didn’t moved nor spoke. I was scared of what might happen. So I tried to shift but all that happened was me shifting on the lowest level that a shifter may have.  

I was ridiculous. I look like a girl that has a disease because of all the hair that grew all around my body. The only difference were my canine’s that grew longer and my nose went to shape like a dogs nose. I could hear everyone whispering and I even heard an elder say that I’m a disgrace when I heard my sister spoke. She was already back to her human form. She apologized to the Alpha and the Luna. I then shifted back with so much anger with myself.  

Luna Sofia asked if I am having trouble shifting because of everyone watching over us. I just said no, when my sister spoke with so much love in her voice.  

“I apologize for what happened Alpha and Luna. It is not because of all the people. My sister was never shy to show everyone her wolf. In fact, she is very proud of her wolf form.”  

“But why is she unable to shift now?” The great alpha asked. 

“It seems that my sister’s emotions are keeping her from shifting, Alpha. Since the day our parents died she has been having problems connecting with her wolf.”  

Luna Sofia then, walked in-front and talked to her husband our alpha. After a few moments she walked towards me and stop when we’re only inches away. She took my hand and held it palm up for a few seconds. She smiled a smile that removed some of the mark of aging in her face. Then she spoke with a voice that everyone will surely hear.  

“I am the Luna of this pack. And I have been given the right to accept every wolf that would like to be part of this pack. Tonight we will be accepting her and her sister Rose to our pack with understanding. Child you will be meeting with me everyday after school so that we can talk about your problem. Okay.”

After she spoke she pulled me in to a hug while everyone cheered. I don’t know what to feel about what happened but I know my sister is happy, so I’m okay with everything. Right after the ceremony, a big feast was held for us. There where salmons, roasted chicken and turkey and more. Everyone was having fun. Until my sister and I were called again by the alpha.  

We went to the table where the alpha and Luna were seated and asked why they have asked for us. We were asked to be seated and informed that they will be introducing us to two other people in the pact. Then alpha taped the back of the guy seated beside him. The guy’s name was Nate, he is one of the alpha’s nephews and is said to be the beta. He was just made beta a month ago when his father gave him the position.  

My attention then shifted to Nate’s right side. There seated was the beautiful blond who have just given her number to me on the parking lot earlier at school. Cleo, was staring back at me with eyes searching for something. And then I thought why was I unable to sense that she’s a wolf. But then this annoying voice answered me ‘because you’ve shut me down from everything you do.’ Well of course that is my fault.
