Chapter 20

Sky's POV

It has been like, what? A month now? Everything is doing great and all is going smoothly, besides from the usual clash with Cleo.

Life has never been better.

"Life will never be as normal as it could possibly be."

This words have somehow become my very own mantra the past month. But it works. Surprisingly my life here at Rockfort Hills have become a lot normal than what we had at home.

"Hey Sky! What's taking you so long to reach the fuckin car? Get your pretty face here now before we get late for school!"

Yup. That would be Amber shouting at me for the nth time since we've became friends. We've become closer after our first week at school. And surprisingly they've become friends with Sam too. Oh how I could still remember that day.

~FlashBack~

"Hey! Sleepy head! Rise and shine." Sam had just woken me early on a Saturday morning.

"You know what? Maybe I should not allow you to have an overnight here again ever." I told her with a hint of irritation in my voice.

"Oh c'mon. You promised we'll have a run at the state park."

She reminded me of a promise that I have made to her yesterday. Which is also the reason why she stayed overnight. Because the state park is nearer on our place than from the parkhouse.

"Okay okay. Give me five minutes."

"No! Get up now. We need to meet the sun."

"Meet the sun?! Sam why don't you just go ahead?"

"Whatever Sky."

That's the last thing I heard from Sam because the next thing I know is she's on my feet dragging me off the bed. I could feel myself trashing all over when I heard the door burst open and Meg starting to laugh her heart out.

I could feel myself getting pissed off. Well, I hate being awaken when I don't want to wake up, yet. So I let out an angry growl and they both fell silent.

"What the hell?" Sam cursed while whimpering.

But Meg didn't spoke. When I lifted my gaze to check on her, I could see that she got shocked. But then she started to cry and fell on her knees. I rushed to her wanting to make sure she's okay.

"Meg!" I shouted her name. But she just looked at me. Then lifter her hand to my face.

"When? Since when Sly?"

"Since when? What? What are you asking me?"

I am really clueless about what she's asking me about. But I guess Sam did because she suddenly slapped the back of my head and told me that I'm an i***t. I was to get angry at her and growl at her again when she stopped me.

"She is asking since when did you have back you wolf, you idiot." She have just called me an i***t while making me realize what Meg means.

"Oh. I'm sorry big sis. It's almost a month now but I'm still working on my strengths and abilities. I'm planning to tell you when I fully regain my wolf but-"

I was still explaining when Meg stopped me and hugged me tight. I felt the warmth of her love instantly. So I gave back the warmth and hugged her as if I'm holding on to my dear life.

"I glad you had her back. Make mom and dad proud my little knight. But don't think that I will easily let you get away with this. I will let you go for now but I'll get you back for it. Understand?"

"You seems so scary like how Luna Sofia does. But you don't scare me. But yes I understand."

Meg let go of me then gave me a disbelieved look. She stood up and started walking. But before reaching the stairs, she stopped and told us to get ready while she cooks breakfast for us.

"Whew! She totally scares me like how aunt Sofia does. But you we're alot scary. Don't let it happen again, okay?"

Yes, I 100% agree with Sam. She is totally like Luna Sofia but a little softer. But Sam is also right. I should have not allowed to lose control again. Specially not infront of the other pack members.

I then nodded and headed for my dresser. Took the things I needed and headed off to Meg's room. I allowed sam to use my bathroom that's why I'll be the one to use Meg's bath. And yes, both room have bathrooms of their own.

It took us around 30 minutes to get ready and eat breakfast. And when we're done, Meg went out to the garage to heat up the car while I took the liberty to wash the dishes. Sam waited for me to finish, so when I'm done we headed to the car.

They woke me up at around 4 am, pretty early for a run. So when we left for the state park the whole place is still covered with darkness. Everyone is asleep in this place and only a few people are awake at this time.

When we arrived at the entrance of the state park, the place is still closed. Well, truth is, it will open by 7 am. But we have our own ways of getting in, so it's not a problem.

Sam immediately went out of the car and warmed up. I took the time to check on my ipod and fix my play list. Once I finished and about to get out of the car, Meg took hold of my arm.

"What is it?" I asked her, startled of the gesture she've just done.

"Take care. If anything happens I'm just a thought away. Okay?"

"Okay. You take care too."

And I'm off. I'm so afraid to show Meg that she's one of my weaknesses because of she finds out then the others would. And they can use her against me in the future.

It's a cold day today. I started stretching as soon as I got my small bag from the back seat. Meg have just left us, leaving Sam and I alone.

After our warm up, we headed off in to the woods. We didn't shifted as planned. Today we will run as normal humans trying to extend our limits. And surely we are exciding our human boundaries because we're running faster than the human speed.

It didn't took us long until we reached my favorite place in the woods. My lovely haven, the paradise I found in the middle of the forest. I though that we'll stay to rest but after i have a drunk from the clear water Sam told me to stop wasting time.

Getting too excited, she started running again deeper in to the forest. I've never tried going further but I guess there's no harm in trying. So I immediately started running after her.

We ran a few kilometers more until my eyes started to deceive me. I guess I'm just hallucinating, but when I checked on Sam her face is lit with pure happiness. Then I thought to myself, this is what she means when she said she wants to meet the sunrise.

The place is so amazing. There is this meadow that covers the ground a few miles and on the edge is a cliff. And on the other side of the cliff is a vast body of water. I can't belive that I can just cliff dive and fall straight in to the ocean.

"So, what can you say? Alot better than your waterfalls back there huh?"

Sam is so cocky right now, I could feel her happiness bringing me to this place. But I didn't let her be too cocky and just to burst her bubble I teased her a bit.

"Well actually, it's good. But you see, I can't even swim here. Or bathe under the waterfall."

"Oh." Was her only reply while the happiness starts to fade from her face. And that's when I started to laugh my heart out. She was so red in the face that she started tackling me to the ground.

"Say sorry!" She shouts. But a loud and firm "No." Was my reply.

"Skylar?" Suddenly I'm hearing someone call my name.

"Did you-"

"Yes. Who's there?"

Sam didn't allow me to finish my question but also took the liberty to ask who have just called me. I can see her protectiveness of me. But we both know that I should be the one to protect her because I'm the stronger one.

Then two figures started to move out of the trees. They started to walk near us when one of them grabbed the other's arm. Allowing my wolf to take over my senses, I tried to find out who these people are.

"Stop Dani. You don't even know if it's her. And it's too early, no normal person would go in to the woods at this time. Plus we're here to hu-"

I'm pretty sure who they are now. And I can even smell their perfumes. Amber has the smell of strawberries while Dani, Dani has this strange smell of citrus and greentea. That's when I decided to call out to them.

"Dani? Amber?" I shouted for them to hear.

I went near Sam holding the part of her skin on her shoulder that shows to make her calm down. When I told her it's okay, she totally loosened up. That's when I move beside her waiting for the two girls to come near us.

Before they got the chance to get nearer I took the flashlight from my backpack and switched it on. I pointed the light on the ground to give light for them to see where they're going.

"What are you both doing here at this time?" I asked them.

"Huh? We should be the one asking that to you and your friend." Amber answered with a raced eyebrow.

I immediately understood what she meant so I introduced Sam to them and vice versa. Amber's face lit up right after I told them that Sam is my bestfriend here at Rockfort hills. But when I saw Dani's face, her face registered pure happiness.

Getting too creeped from their reactions, I decided to ask them why they were on the woods at an early time. Both girls gave me a suspicious look but I shrugged it off.

"Our dads, Dani's and mine, are forest rangers. They take us here to learn how to hunt."

Amber was the one who answered my question. I don't know why I felt that there was something wrong when they told us about their dad's work but I decided to disregard it. I was in too something that I might don't like, so I removed every thought of it from my mind.

"So since you already know why we're here, maybe you could answer us now." This time, Dani is the one who broke the silence.

I was about to answer when Sam told her that we went for a run. Which is actually the truth. They were to ask another question, maybe a followup about why we're here at an early time, when I told them that my sister brought us to the forest, which they believed immediately.

When everything went great, I went back to my position on the ground and laid flat on my back. They asked me what I was doing but I just shooed them to keep quiet. Sam laughed at the I acted and told the other two that I am still sleepy because I woke up early.

Then they all laughed at me up to their hearts content. But decided to lay beside me after awhile. Sam laid on my left and I'm pretty sure Dani was the one on my right.

We stayed like that at the meadow until the sun's light touched every living creature in the meadow and on the forest. I guess, we have lost track of time because I felt a bit hotter under the sun's rays.

I woke all of them and recived questioning looks. When I told them that it's time to go, they asked where. But I told them to just follow me and that they'll enjoy the day with me.

I started to head out back in to the woods. With Dani and Amber close behind while Sam stayed on the back. I could already hear the flow of the waterfalls from a far when someone grabbed hold of my hand.

When I felt this person's hand I got shocked and felt a tingling sensation. And when I turned to check who it was, I was shocked to see Dani. She just gave me a smile and said she almost trip.

I returned her smile and dismissed the feeling. Maybe I was just not that used to be touched by other people. That was the explanation I had for myself. And that was what I believed until I had completely forgotten about it.

When we reached our destination, both girls where in shock. They were both mesmerized by the place that they feel silent with their jaws dropped to the ground. Sam broke all silence and made fun of them by taking out her phone and quickly took a picture of the two.

It was so funny I dropped out in the ground laughing my lungs out while watching them. When they realized what had happened, they started running after Sam. They wanted to get hold of the picture and delete it immediately, but Sam was too fast even if she don't use any wolfish abilities.

And that's where it all started. We played around the whole time we stayed on this part of the forest. Laughing like crazy, sharing stories that we've never known about eachother were just some of the few things we did.

We found out about their parents and how they became best friends, while Sam and I told them about how we lost our parents and how we became friends. I am really surprised when they told me that they don't know Sam even though they have spent all their lives on the same town.

I was deep in thought when my attention was caught by one of them clearing her throat. When I checked to see who it was, they were all looking at me. 'What?' I asked them but they just looked at eachother and laughed.

I let out a sigh. This would be the nth time that they have made fun of me the whole time we stayed on this place. Then I told them that maybe it was a mistake to introduce them to Sam because they always bully me.

"Haha! Skay, you're funny." Amber said sarcastically.

"Amber be nice. Haha. But seriously we should just all be friends. You and sam, Amber and me all in a group like mean girls?"

"What ever Dani. I don't want to be Lindsay Lohan while Amber here becomes the girl who can predict the weather with her boobies."

Sam and Dani started laughing again while Amber gave me a death glare. Pretending I got scared, I lifted my hand and said sorry and I just did that because she have been bullying me since we got there.

"Oh. Sorry. I was just teasing. Forgive me?" Amber said after I said my side.

"Yes of course. Just don't bully me." I told her.

"So we're like bff's now? Like brats?" Sam asked excitedly.

"Yes, like brats." Dani repeated that made Amber and I laugh out loud.

~EndOfFlashback~

That day really was something. We were all caught on a place where we totally shouldn't be in. But on the end of the day we all move over it and became best of friends.

'Like brats.' I murmured to myself with a smile.

"What are you smiling about? Don't you think it's too early to daydream?"

Yeap! That is Amber, always the one to b***h me out but we all know that it's her way of showing that she cared for me. I'm the last to be picked up. Since it's Sam's car that we're using today, she picked up Dani first, then Amber and me.

I'm the only one who don't have a car yet so they decided to take days on who will drive. And I will be their driver for 2 weeks once I got a car of my own.

"So everyone ready?" Sam asked.

We all said yes and we're off to school hoping for a great day ahead.
