I Will Make Her Mine

1045 Words
Nathan's POV. It has been two days since the Luna Ceremony, and I cannot believe how quickly my life went from perfect to miserable. I am still struggling to accept the truth that Maya left me. How could she? How dare she! Maya has always been a pushover since the first day I met her, but it seemed like she's a different person now. Anyway, I need to find a way to make things right. If only I could contact her, I know I could convince her somehow. This isn't the first time Maya has had doubts about us, and I chased her for a year before. I can do it again. If it weren't for the crown prince, I would have taken action much sooner. I can't believe my bad luck. But, I can't help but wonder why there has been no movement from Eljah or Adrian. How strange.. I would have expected them to have already crushed our pack by now. It must be Maya. I knew it! She still loves me. There's no better proof than this. She must have convinced them not to take any action. This means I still have a chance to win her back and reclaim everything I have lost. The elders are furious with me for losing Maya. They were unaware that she was of Royal status, and had they known, they would have treated her with more respect. They have disliked the fact that she was raised by human parents. I neglected the mistreatment Maya faced and pushed her to do everything the elders demanded, thinking it was not an issue at the time. However, I cannot rely on the elders to convince her now as she would never listen to them after how they treated her. Perhaps I should visit Maya's parents and see if she's still there. I heard she left in an SUV with the Norwegian Royals immediately after the ceremony. She may be with her brothers, so I will have to wait until she returns to her parents. That's the only way I can reach her. If I tried any other way, I'd probably end up getting killed. On the other hand, Sandra is overjoyed at the thought of becoming Luna. Is she naive or just greedy to throw away her self-respect like that? I am still unable to shake off the humiliation I faced that day. Doesn't she realize that without Maya, there would be no pack for us to rule? I had always wished for a better mate, and now that Maya is gone, I wish it were her instead. I had started losing interest in Maya, since she was always a pushover whom I could manipulate into doing anything. However, after seeing her wolf that day, I cannot get her out of my head. If I don't make her mine, I will go crazy. This was my game, and I was supposed to lead it. This is just a setback, and I'm sure everything will be back to normal once I convince Maya to get back together. My thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door. "Nathan, are you there? You haven't left the room for two days. The pack members are worried, and the elders seem angry," said Sandra. She had been trying to be with me for the past two days, but this was all her fault. I couldn't bear to see her face. I had asked her so many times to be careful and not to be noticed by Maya. She couldn't do this simplest thing, and now she expects to lead a pack? How ridiculous and stupidly ambitious! I might have been out of my mind to consider making her Luna after the pack reached its peak. "Just leave!! Aren't you happy that you will be the next Luna? Can't you manage this simplest task? How did you think you could be a Luna if you cannot even handle this simplest task?" I yelled at her. "I am sorry, Nathan. I'll manage. Please rest and let me know if you need me," Sandra replied. She left, and there was sadness in her voice, but I have known her long enough to know that it was all just an act. She craved power and would do anything to get it. I could see her drooling at Adrian after hearing that he was the crown prince. So much for a true mate's bond.. I opened the door to my room and went to see my elders. The room had a dim light, and I could sense the tension within the room as they looked at me for answers. Sandra was serving them coffee, and she smiled at me. I couldn't care less. "Elders, I apologize for what happened at the Luna ceremony. It wasn't my intention to bring humiliation to our pack. I had everything under control - but she had somehow gotten to know the truth. But I'll make sure to bring her back!" I declared. I could see Sandra's face in shock, and I could see the anger in her eyes no matter how much she tried to conceal it. "But, Nathan. Didn't you say I'd one day become Luna? Why not now? After all, Maya knows about us - I doubt she'd return.". Sandra tried to convince me. But before she could answer, one of the elders spoke out. "Mind your language girl! Know your place before you speak. It is correct that we had favored you in the past - perhaps why Nathan promised you the Luna's seat. It's before we knew that Maya was Royalty. What's done is done. Nathan, make sure you bring Maya back to the pack. Chase this woman away before Maya comes back". Sandra fell onto the ground. She knew it was over for her. "Thank you, elders, for putting your faith in me once more. I won't disappoint you. I know what I need to do. I shall convince Maya one way or another. She still loves me, and I am more than capable of convincing her. She's still the same woman.." I couldn't help but smile.. I bowed to the elders and turned to leave. "You wish!" I heard Sandra mutter, as I walked away.
