The sound of my phone ringing dragged me out of a sound sleep, and I groaned in irritation as I rolled toward the nightstand. The sun was just starting to peek through the window. Far too early for me to be awake. Looking through one eye, I patted around the nightstand until I found the source of the offensive noise.
“Someone better be dying...” I snapped after accepting the call.
“Uh, Ms. Campbell?”
Alerted by the official tone, I leaned up on my elbow. “Yes, this is Avery Campbell.”
