It was time. The thought occurred to me as I stood leaning against the fireplace in the living room, looking at my family enjoying a lazy Sunday morning. Avery was showing. She’d done a great job finding a dress that concealed her bump for the awards ceremony the night before, but there had still been some subtle questions and innuendo. Then there was the ring. I thought for sure that Avery would take her engagement ring off for the event, but she hadn’t. Instead, she’d worn it proudly and simply smiled if someone questioned her about it.
