“Now, I am sorry I dragged your daughter away from the party last night, but we made a little deal. It’s now time for her to uphold her end, so I’d appreciate it if you'd give us a moment to speak alone.” Elias was currently staring my stepmother down, his voice stern and leaving no room for argument. I wonder if he’d had to deal with people like my stepmother a lot, because he seemed to know exactly how to act and what to say to not only make her listen, but keep her from blowing her lid. “Well… fine. But I need you inside, soon.” She shoots at me, crossing her arms. “She’ll be in soon.” Elias says pointedly. I had to applaud him again for how well he handled my step mother, and he didn’t even have to get angry or raise his voice to do it. Even my dad didn’t tell her what to do. Sh
