The next week at school drags on, to say the least. While I did my best to focus on my studies, because I knew they were important and I wanted to learn as much as I could, all I could really think about was my mother. I hoped she was settling in okay, eating more and getting some rest. She had looked so frail, weak. Like the wind would make her crumble to dust. I had gotten a text from a random phone number the same day Elias had brought me home, and I’d had the run in with my parents. It had just been the address of the hotel and said I could come see my mother in room three twelve whenever I wanted. I don’t know who the text was from or how they got my number. When I went to text back my message wasn’t delivered, like the number didn’t exist, or they had blocked me. I was grateful
