CHAPTER ELEVEN Heading down the front steps, they trudge through the snow. The wind blows clear, for now. The woods crackle with tangled and falling limbs. Other than that, though, the crunching of their boots is the only sound. They hold in front of them the only lanterns for miles. The night swallows the snow surrounding their yellow circles. Peter and Sarah search for hours, peeking into every home and building. No hut, no carriage, no wagon. Nothing to show them Gammah is there. Peter looks down at the snow, scraping the fast-melting flakes with the toe of his boot. “Well, looks like we’ll have to go to the ginroh tomorrow morning.
