I have finally finished Elite training and have graduated from college. I put everything together to prepare for the volunteers coming in tomorrow. We reserved the open rooms in the pack house for the training warriors, so we asked the families to offer space for the volunteers. Everyone was honored to help knowing what a big deal this was for our pack to be chosen to host. There was a chance the Alpha Prince would come and visit and no one wanted to look bad in his eyes.
I spent the first day getting everyone situated with their housing and handing out their assignments. I also talked with the kitchen and made sure they were prepared for everyday meals and the special events. We had just had the Alpha and Luna event, so I know they can handle large crowds. Speaking of which, Kevin and Jackie get back today too. I will let Josh handle that.
"Hey, Blake, got a minute?" Jake yells for me.
"Only if it is about the event."
"Yeah, just got word we have another volunteer coming in tomorrow. And get this, it's a girl. Dude, you have to read her file. If she hadn't just turned 18, she would be coming here to kick your ass." He says laughing at the end.
"Let me see that thing." As I snatch the file out of his hand. I open the folder walking up toward my office and stop dead in my tracks. This girl is amazing. I wish we could make an exception. She lists her goal as wanting to lead the Elite Warrior Team. I really pity her mate. She is going to give him an inferiority complex.
I am brought back out of my thoughts and asked Jake, "Why isn't she here today?"
"I guess her Alpha wasn't sure if she would qualify and her mom didn't want her coming. Dad gave the ok, and they are sending her tomorrow morning, but she won't be here until the afternoon."
"Ok, I am looking forward to meeting her. I will have to figure out what to have her do since all the work has been given out."
"Well depending on how hot she is, she can follow me around," Jake says as he wiggles his eyebrows. I roll my eyes and throw my stapler at him. Thank goodness for werewolf reflexes.
I am finishing up for the day and heading down to dinner with the pack when I run into my parents. "Hey Blake, how did the first day go?" dad asks with a smile on his face stretching from ear to ear.
"It went really well. All the volunteers are set up and ready to go. All the assignments are handed out. Now it is just for me to supervise and make sure things go according to plan."
"Glad to hear it. I would like you to come by Western Star in the morning. I know you aren't officially taking over for a bit, but because you are acting Gamma, I need to get you set up on payroll and listed as the authorized signer on the accounts. It shouldn't take long and Jake can keep an eye on things here for you while you are away."
"Yeah, shouldn't be a problem. I just need to be back by lunch so I can meet the last volunteer. She is coming in a day late due to some miscommunication from her Alpha."
At that my mom and dad's eyes got really wide. My mom was first to speak, "Did you say she? You know we have always let females participate in warrior training, but we have never had one show potential enough to qualify for this kind of event."
"According to her file, she could take on any warrior here already, however, she just turned 18, so she doesn't qualify. However, her goal is to be the Head Warrior of the Elite Warrior Team, so she wants to start early learning what it is all about. I for one can't wait to meet her. She sounds like a hand full!"
"Well treat her the same as everyone else. She won't want special treatment one way or the other," my mom says and she is probably right.
"Speaking of which, do you have a place for her to stay? I don't have an open house for her and I can't spare a warriors room."
"We don't. Your Aunt and Uncle are visiting and they have the only spare room in the house. And you don't want them on the Gamma wing, believe me. Do you want us to send the twins back to their old room?" My parents moved out shortly after I became Gamma, much to my protest.
"No, I will be keeping weird hours and I won't be able to keep a good enough eye on them. I will figure something out tomorrow when she gets here."
Dinner was smooth and a nice welcome to all the volunteers. We got everyone settled and I made it to bed at a decent time. My wolf Thor was a bit restless tonight, but I figured it was just all the recent stress we dealt with the last few weeks starting to wind down.
The next morning I get up and call Jake to my office. Thor is still pacing in the back of my mind.
'Thor would you please calm down? As soon as we get back from Western Star we will go for a run, deal?'
'Yes, I feel something exciting is going to happen today. I can't calm down. I am sorry. I wish I knew what it was.'
'Can you go lay down until I am done with work? You are giving me a headache.'
At that Thor makes a show of turning tail and going to the back of my mind to find a quiet place to lay down. About that time Jake comes in.
"What's up boss?"
"I have to run to Western Star to handle a couple things. I shouldn't be gone long. Keep an eye out for Mandy and mind link me when she is here. My goal is to be back by lunch."
"Got it. No problem. All under control here!" Jake gets up and leaves.
As I get back from Western Star after lunch, I realize that Mandy has to already be here. I run into Luna Jackie on my way up to my floor and she confirms my suspicions. She let's me know that she put her on the special guest floor since there were plenty of open rooms and there was nowhere else to put her.
I thanked her for her help and let her know I would connect with her at dinner. Since I had time, I decided to let Thor out to run. We ran for about an hour and headed back to take a shower before dinner. As I got closer to the pack house, we smelled an amazing scent of peaches and cinnamon.
I let it go and went up to shower before heading down to dinner. I take my seat at the main table and we wait for the Alpha and Luna to join us so we can begin eating. I see the Alpha first and then I smell the glorious scents from earlier. The perfect mix of peaches and cinnamon and then I see her standing next to Luna Jackie. The most beautiful blonde haired, blue eyed beauty I have ever seen. I stand up as if my body has a mind of its own as our eyes meet. And we both say the word I have been dying to hear for the last 4 years...
"Mate!"
