Alisa's Tragedy

Kenya, The family kitchen is located outside the compound consisting of uncountable Clay pots, plates and spoons which were been covered by dust. majority of the untensils belongs to late Alisa's mother.Nene came to the house with no spoon of her own ,all she does was to borrow pot from Alisa's mother to cook and plates to serve their husband food,the whole village call her borrow borrow (someone who borrows alot). Now that Alisa's mother is gone she has took possession of all her belongings,and so she doesn't have to borrow anymore. Sitting on a bare floor inside the compound was Nene, beside her lay a hip of dirty clothes and dirty dishes with flies humming all over them.Its raining season and the cloud looks beautiful from afar,too lazy to get up and help herself to her dirty room,she always calls for everything to be done while seated.Alisaa...this is the only name she can call softly when Alisa's Father is around,Alisa showed up in a shattered clothe, goosebumps all over her neck and and a mood worn which shows anger,her long hair looks very rough which lack proper care. How on Earth would you be sleeping by this time of the day when you know the house maid only comes to work when your Father is around,am sorry Nene,I was absent minded.How dare you tell me that said Nene as she picked a wooden spoon from the pile of dirty plates and threw it at Alisa who was standing there helplessly.The poor girl was on her circle and she loses her mind in moments like this, stupid girl,if you think I will love you just like your father does,then certainly you are crazy,I shall love no child in this house until I have my own...she hissed and stood up slowly like a pregnant goat and headed to her room,so this woman will not give up on the issue of having a child at this old age,a woman like you will never experience motherhood,tears began to roll down her cheeks as she wipe them off and began to wash the plates.,Nene's voice brought her back to her senses,you are to wash everything in this house before i wake up from sleep and before your stunt father comes back.She hardly calls her Mother because she once said "no fight with the dead",she only calls her Father because he is the only existing family Alisa has. She usually knows her Father is back from the sound of his old Mercedes, before he parks and get into the compound,she will quickly tidy up the house and fix everything to be in even a times when he popped in am saw her ponding yam and complained,all she said was she was teaching her how to cook because girls of now days mostly have a broken home because of inability to cook good food for their husbands, that's my secret to winning your heart, Alisa's Father threw a smile at her but still not pleased with her work. The economic situation gets worst by the day, schools are no longer affordable not only the fees,but other tutions will render you cashless,these made so many communities attend only Islamic schools, because they are more cheaper,Even the food they eat becomes exorbitant,one has tow be conscious of how he spends his money. Alisa's Father's attempt of enrolling her to school proves abortive,it was all Nene's fault that she had to reach puberty without going to school coupled with her Father's favorite brother's idea uncle kerubo, uncle kerubo hates girl child education he feels it's an eye opener for a girl.His children of her age are already in their husbands houses. Growing up was hard for Alisa because she had lost her previous jewel(her mother) there are times she gave up on life itself,the only thing that gave her hope is her mum's only sister Aunt Rehema,she lives in a near by village,and she only comes visiting once in a while due to the fact that she and Nene always fight because of the way she maltreats Alisa. .......When you look into your mother's eyes, you know that is the purest love you can find on this earth."
