"Alina, you can't ignore the mission you were born to fulfill. As an alpha, your decisions shape the future of our entire pack," Bartley, my butler, said with a gravity that weighed on my shoulders. "Are you serious? Just because I'm the alpha, I have to marry nine fiancés for the pack's future?" I glared at the old werewolf, Bartley, refusing to back down. "I'm calling off the engagements!" ***** I pulled up to my destination, parking on the side of the road. A quick glance in the rearview mirror, and I adjusted my hair. The mirror reflected a face of striking beauty. My thick, dark brown curls cascaded down my shoulders, and my amber eyes shone with vitality and confidence. 'Yep, still looking sexy as ever.' "Liam Spencer, face us!" The shout from outside my car shattered my moment of self-admiration. 'Liam Spencer? Isn't he the one I'm here to see?' I pushed open the car door and stepped out. The only nearby villa had to be Congressman Liam's place—one of my nine fiancés and the first one I planned to dump. I'd seen him on TV a few times. Always in a suit, calm and polite, nothing like the playboy the tabloids made him out to be. So, I figured breaking up with him would be easy—he seemed like the reasonable type. But now, the scene in front of me was nothing like I'd imagined. A crowd of angry protesters had gathered outside the villa's gate, holding up signs and shouting so loudly it made my ears ring. "Give us our money back!" "Fraud! Hypocrite!" I squeezed through the mob to reach the guard at the gate, gasping for breath when I finally got there. "Hi, I'm Liam's fiancée, Alina West. I need to see him." The guard looked me up and down, a sneer curling his lips. "Miss, we see a dozen women like you every day. Move along." His words hit me like a bucket of cold water, leaving me speechless. 'So, unless I plan on fighting my way in, I'm not going to see Liam directly. Good thing I have a backup plan.' As night fell, I changed into black workout gear and silently slipped into Liam's villa. Being an alpha, my senses were a hundred times sharper than any ordinary person's. Those so-called security systems and alarms? Completely useless against me. I moved like a shadow through the garden, not alerting a single guard. Finally, I reached the back door of the villa. With a gentle twist, the lock clicked open without a hitch. 'Looks like Mr. Spencer is a bit too confident in his security.' Holding my breath, I crept inside the villa. In the dim light, I heard the sound of an argument coming from a study down the hall. Driven by curiosity, I moved closer and peeked through the crack in the door, witnessing something shocking. Inside the room, a young man was tied to a chair, his face bruised and blood dripping from his mouth—clearly, and he’d been tortured. A tall bodyguard stood in front of him, expressionless, holding a whip and striking the man repeatedly, each blow echoing with a sickening sound. Liam, who always appeared so polished and polite in public, sat in a luxurious leather chair, casually sipping red wine with a cruel smile on his face. "Who sent you? Tell me their name, and I'll let you go." Liam's voice was as cold as ice, like a demon from hell. Even now, I couldn't help but notice that he was even more handsome than on TV, with hair and eyes as dark as a raven's wing. 'Oh, this devilishly handsome man!' The young man painfully lifted his head, blood staining his lips, yet he stubbornly glared at Liam. "No one sent me. I just can't stand watching a hypocrite like you! You deceive the public, embezzle funds—you don't deserve any of this!" Liam suddenly smashed his wine glass to the floor, shards flying everywhere. "I'm not a patient man!" He stood up, walked over to the young man, and grabbed him by the throat. "Do you know what happens to people who cross me?" The young man struggled in agony, yet still managed to lift his head and stare defiantly into Liam's eyes, bloodshot and fierce. "You're nothing but a devil in disguise! You seized my land and drove my father to his death! You colluded with gangs and oppressed the people! All the evil you've done will come back to haunt you someday!" Liam sneered dismissively, ignoring the young man's accusations, and said nonchalantly, "Keep beating him until he tells the truth." The bodyguard got the message and raised the whip again, striking down hard. 'So this is who you really are—cruel and heartless!' I couldn't watch it any longer! I burst through the door, charging into the room at lightning speed, and landed a punch square on Liam's nose. He let out a groan, collapsing to the floor. The bodyguard turned at the noise, but before he could react, I was already behind him, delivering a solid punch to the back of his head. He went down with a thud.
