I took off running as fast as I could, I don't know what came over me but my body naturally took over.
"I didn't hear that right, right? I couldn't have heard that right." Me, mates to that perfect Adonis of a man? Absolutely no way! My feet pounded on the sidewalk as I ran and ran towards my school, my heartbeat pounding in my head. He was an incredibly gorgeous guy don't get me wrong, but there is no way I'm his mate, there can't be. I still have 3 days before I'm 18!
Reaching the building with inhuman speed I stopped inside by my locker and placed a hand on it, bending at the waist trying to catch my breath from that intense freak out running I did on my way here. Feeling a slight tap on my shoulder I sucked in air quickly and stood strait turning to see my history professor, a cute elderly man and human, looking at me with a mildly concerning face.
“Are you alright Miss Nightingale? It almost seems like you’ve seen a ghost!” Professor Daniels said to me, his voice thick with concern.
“Oh yes, don’t worry, im okay! I just thought I was going to be late so ran here, but I guess I didn’t need to worry about that at all seeing how the school is still pretty empty right now.” I rambled on as I watched his features gradually go from concern to understanding.
“Well that’s quite alright then, would you mind following me dear? I have something that could use the help of someone like yourself, I am getting quite old so its not as easy for me to get around these days." Professor Daniels says as he gestures towards the guidance counselors room further down the hall at the other end of the school.
He kept speaking to me but my mind was returning to the thoughts of that absolutely delicious man that I saw in that park earlier, and the fact that we were apparently mates. I was watching Professor Daniels head from behind walking with my thoughts going a mile a minute when something he said caught my attention.
“Im sorry professor, would you mind repeating that last statement? My mind was elsewhere I apologize.” He turned and looked at me with a small smile shaking his head ever so carefully.
“You young things are always lost in thought these days huh? Well as I was saying school will be over for you soon Miss Nightingale, only 3 days left; which is why I was so surprised when this happened!” He gestured to the door to the guidance counselors room and without hesitation I opened it for him and watched him walk through, following after him.
I then felt uneasy as I lifted my eyes and came face to face with the man I saw in the park. I could hear Professor Daniels, really I could but my eyes wouldn’t look away from his icy blue stare.
“This young man here is Aubrey Stone, like I said with only 3 days left of school I couldn’t believe my ears when the Principal said we were getting a new student when the end of the year is already upon us! He came with all of his transcripts and all of his classes are complete; he is pretty much ready to walk the stage at the end of the week but we wanted to introduce him to someone who could make these last few days memorable!” I looked from my Professor back to the mysterious man sitting in front of me; a hand came into focus in my line of sight, snapping its fingers. I blinked a few times and looked back at Professor Daniels who was giving me this strange look.
“Are you sure you’re okay Miss Nightingale? You were staring at Aubrey pretty hard just then, not blinking at all.” His face turned to one of concern, this man was just too sweet. I looked back at this gorgeous man and finally gained some sense.
“My name is Celeste Nightingale, its nice to meet you Aubrey Stone.” I stuck out my hand offering it to him which he took. I felt weird tingles in my palm when our skin connected and I swear his eyes turned an even paler blue before he blinked and they were back to a semi-normal blue. He didn’t say anything to me and I took a step back, grabbing the paper Professor Daniels was handing me.
“ Here is his schedule, he is in a few of your classes but with it being the last few days I figured, along with the Principal, that you could bring him to his classes before graduation.” I looked over the list and saw that we had first period together, which started in 5 minutes.
“Thanks Professor, ill be glad to show him around; im sure a few days will go by fast!” I smiled at him and turned to leave when Aubrey reached in front of me first and opened the door for me, his eyes reaching mine not saying a word.
“Oh, well thanks!” Stepping forward to go past him in the hallway, I heard him growl, low enough that humans cant hear it.
“Mate.” The blush that crossed my cheeks was quick to come and refused to go when we both walked out of the door and headed down the hall to the first period class.

Man this day has just been strange, between people asking me what happened to my hair and others asking about the dashing yet silent guy that followed me around all day. Every time I brought him to either his or our classes I could distinctly hear him growl mate each time; stupid wolf hearing. The only thing about this guy that I knew was his name, im guessing he was atleast 18 to be calling me his mate, and the fact that I saw him with a Raven that made me unconsciously think about the dreams that I have been having as of late.
When the last bell rang for school to be over I walked to his classroom only to find that he had left already. Shrugging I decided that it wasn’t worth it to sit around and wait and began heading home; taking my time I walked down the sidewalk just enjoying the waning sun.
Passing by the cute little park I instinctively turned my head, a part of me hoping, that I would see him in there again only to be let down that the park was empty. Sighing heavily I grabbed my keys and opened my door to my tiny apartment and flopped down on the bed. Not only did I have to deal with showing this new guy around school for only a few days-
“But I have to go have dinner with my parents tonight.” Sighing once again and getting up, I trudged to the bathroom and stripped out of my clothes getting into the shower; the hot water cascading down my body as the tension from the day just melted away. Once finished I dressed in a pale yellow dress that made the freckles on my face pop and my eyes sparkle.
Adorning my neck with a little sunflower necklace my mother gave me, which I only wear when I see her, I grabbed the black flats from my closet when a beep was heard from outside. Looking out the window I saw the car my parents sent was here, the driver standing just outside the passenger-side door, waiting for me to come out.
“This is going to be a long night.”
