Another World

The day flew by as I sat at my little table eating the frozen meal I had brought home from my last dinner with my family. They always send enough food back with me to make sure I'm fed, then invite me to dinner again so they can repeat this action. Every time I go there my mother always drops not so subtle hints that she wants me to move back in, I feel bad for her because she didn't ask to be in this life but I just can't stand my father anymore. All he talks about when I'm around is how strong I am and how he can't wait for me to take over the pack, I'm going to tell them soon so they can get this heartbreak over with. Taking my clothes off piece by piece I dropped them in my little hamper and waltzed into the bathroom, I glanced at the mirror only to see the reflection of my bathroom in it; relief ran through me as I turned the water on and got in. Just letting the water run off my body was enough to calm my racing mind and soothe my muscles. I got out and wrapped a soft towel around my frame and grabbed another one for my hair, throwing it into a nice twist hoping to hold all of my hair in the towel. Taking a seat on my bed I fell back and enjoyed the comfort of sinking into my bed, I don't know how long I laid like that until my eyes slowly started to drift close and sleep took me. ---- "Oh goddess not again." I rubbed at my temples as my dream world dissolved around me. The same location ive seen the past few days coming into view. The dark night sky, the high white moon, the quiet. I looked down at my feet to find that I was barefoot standing on luscious grass that felt as soft as silk. Cries broke my train of thought as I looked towards the sky as saw that same Raven sitting on a branch of the nearby tree, eyeing me carefully. It turned its head a gestured behind it and took off in flight deeper into the forest. “I don’t want to follow, but..” Carefully stepping on the grass being sure that nothing was under my feet I walked into the forest, my path being illuminated by the moon. I reached out to one of the trees and allowed my hand to gently caress the tree, it felt real to me so I placed my hand on it a bit firmer. A warmth spread through my hands and it felt like it was sinking into my very soul. I pressed on, my eyes darting around to see if anything looked vaguely familiar to me; I noticed the Raven flying ahead and stopping on a branch, looking back to see if I was indeed following. My eyes were so transfixed on the Raven that I didn’t notice I had come to a small clearing, surrounded by trees but open enough that the moon shone beautifully through the opening of the trees. I looked from the almost full moon down to the clearing and noticed a cute little pond of water. It seemed big enough for someone to swim in but at the same time small, that it wouldn’t come up past your knees. Rocks lined the edge of the pond with bits of grass and flowers growing in between them. Orchids and roses made of pure white blossomed around the water, giving it an almost ethereal glow under the light of the moon. I took a tentative step forward- ----------- The annoying buzz from my alarm was going off waking me from that dream. What was it about that place that made me feel so fearful yet at peace with myself? Stretching I notice was still laying on my bed wrapped in the towels from the night before, sitting up stretching I noticed that something fell from the towel wrapped around my head. A white Orchid. I felt myself go weak, grasping the flower tightly in my hands; This cant be real, this cant be. Checking the time I got up and unwrapped the towels from my body, standing in front of the mirror I glanced at my naked body. Is it me or do my eyes seem; greener. Mentally shaking my thoughts I went to step away when something caught my eyes in the mirror, there was a strip of white hair running through my brown hair, not a few pieces either; an entire chunk running down the front of my hair the entire length. Its almost as if someone had bleached it or dyed it while I slept during the night and I didn’t wake to notice. I absentmindedly ran my hand through the patch of white hair and was mesmerized by how soft it was, something about it seemed familiar to me but I couldn’t place it. “Celeste.” That right, it felt like the grass from that weird area ive been seeing the last few days. Even so, how in the world am I going to explain this to people? “Oh don’t mind my hair, ive been having these weird dreams about the moon, a Raven and – Oh lets not forget to mention that fact that I found an Orchid in my towel from this place ive been dreaming about. Real sane of you Celeste.” Exhaling I go to my closet and pull out a matching set of gray underwear and a bra and slip them on, my hand trailing my large scar on my body as I pulled everything on. Blue jeans and a white t-shirt seemed to be the idea today, might as well match the weird patch of hair on my head. Slipping on my shoes I grabbed a piece of bread from the little bread box on the counter and head out the door and to school. Seeing how I actually woke up on time this morning, I could casually walk to school this morning and not worry about being late. The walk was always nice for me and I loved the cute little park but it seemed these last few days something unsettling was watching me from in there. As I just barely passed the entrance, a noise caught me off guard and I turned to look. When I say this was the most delicious man I have even seen, that’s an understatement. He looked so tall, maybe 6’5” and was well built; like was he a god or something? Ive never seen a man, yes honey, a man, that looked like he was carved from the most precious material. His hair was pitch black and look slightly tousled as if he had been running through the trees in the park, dressed entirely in black; his muscles on his arms looked like it would break the fabric any minute if he even dared to breathe wrong. I unconsciously wipe the small drool that seemed to seep from the corner of my mouth when a movement caught my attention. Following it I saw a Raven glide and drop gracefully onto the man's awaiting hand. A small noise escaped my lips and I saw his head turn oh so slowly, his eyes were an incredible blue like an ocean or maybe – “Like the moons reflection off of that pond in my dreams.” It took a moment for the words to process as I felt myself getting lost in his eyes. I could see his mouth moving but I couldn’t hear what came from them until a gentle breeze blew from behind him and the air rushed past me that I heard the words whispered upon the wind; “Mate.”
