Chapter 1: Meeting Vince
September 28, 2011
Day before the wedding
~Alexandra
I'm so happy at this moment, I can hear my heart jumping with joy. In just a day I'll be Mrs. Alexandra Evans Anderson. I've been waiting for this day to come and now I'm just thankful that finally things in my life turned out so well- I'll be marrying the guy who accept and love me with all his life, and this day I'll be meeting my cousin from my father's side whom I never knew existed.
My father died 2 years ago and I never got the chance to meet anyone from his side because according to my father, his family disowned him when he decided to marry my mother. Since then, we never heard of his parents.
That's why I was shocked when a certain Vince Castel has asked to meet with me this day. I found out that he was my cousin, son of my father's only sister & sibling, Janna Evans-Castel.
"My mom and I have been trying to find your family for about 6 years now, since our grandparents died." Vince explain when we're finally seated in the table at The Barn cafe.
I was confused. "But...I thought our grandparents disowned my father since he married Mom? And that they wouldn't want anything to do with us?"
"Yes... and they were really sorry for even thinking of disowning him. They regretted what they did to him, to your family. They asked me and my mom to look for your family but unfortunately they died before they can finally ask for forgiveness." Vince explain, I can see the sadness in his eyes with the mention of our grandparents' death. Maybe he loved them very much.
I wonder how it feels like to have a grandparents. I never had one. My mother's parents died when she was only 8.
I smiled sadly. "I see. I think my father's with them right now and they've already forgiven each other. As for my mom and I, we've already forgiven them a long time ago."
Vince smiled widely at me and touched my hand that's place on the table.
"I knew you had a kind heart Alex. You're just like your father. Mom said he's a kind-hearted person and never held grudges to anyone. I'm glad we found you. Mom would like to meet you and your Mom soon, if that's okay with you?"
I laugh and place my other hand on Vince's.
"I'm also glad that I finally get to meet someone from my father's side. Mom and I would like to meet you and your Mom too. You don't know how much this means to me, having to reconcile with my father's family. I'm just so happy my life...our lives finally turned out so well. Thank you Vince." He smiled.
"I hope you and Aunt can go to my wedding tomorrow?" I asked.
"Yeah I heard about that. Congratulations, Alex. But I have to go back to LA tomorrow. I'll just send you a gift and wish you a happy life."
I felt a little disappointed but I understand Vince. Maybe he has a lot of work to do that he has left because he has to go here. "Oh it's okay Vince and thank you."
"Thank you also Alex----" he look at his watch and he frown. "Oh look, time flies so fast. I'm so sorry Alex but I have to go. I'll call you okay?" He said while standing.
I also stand on my seat and hug him. He hug me back too. I feel a tear sliding down my left cheek and I just laugh. Vince step back and look at me. He then ask if I'm okay and I answer him.
"Yes I'm just so happy Vince" and I hug him again.
"Oh Alex, you're such a cry baby" he said while laughing.
I smack him on the chest and laugh with him. He finally let me go but not before kissing my forehead. And he finally said goodbye and he's out of the cafe.
I wipe my tears and feel my mouth stretching to a big smile. I can't believe wonderful things are happening right now. I exited the cafe and went back to our house to share to my mom about what happened to the meeting with my cousin, Vince.
