The blood moon approaches

635 Words
Night fell swiftly, wrapping the town in a blanket of darkness. A cold wind whispered through the trees as Elena, Lucien, and Mia gathered in the living room, their expressions grim. The tension in the air was palpable, like the calm before a storm. Lucien paced by the window, his sharp eyes scanning the street for any sign of movement. Mia sat cross-legged on the couch, fiddling nervously with the hem of her sweatshirt. Elena stood by the fireplace, staring into the flickering flames as she tried to ignore the knot of dread tightening in her chest. “We don’t have much time,” Lucien said suddenly, breaking the silence. “The Blood Moon is only three nights away.” “The Blood Moon?” Mia asked, frowning. Lucien nodded. “It’s a rare celestial event that amplifies vampire powers—and Damien’s been waiting for it. If he makes his move while the Blood Moon is in the sky, he’ll be nearly unstoppable.” Elena’s heart skipped a beat. “Then we need to stop him before that happens.” “It won’t be easy,” Lucien said, turning to face them. “Damien will have Viktor and his other allies with him. And if Selene doesn’t show up in time, we’ll be outnumbered.” “So what do we do?” Mia asked. Lucien hesitated, then sighed. “We fight smart. We set traps, we use the element of surprise—and we stick together, no matter what.” Elena nodded, her jaw set with determination. “We can do this. We have to.” Mia gave her a small, encouraging smile. “I’m with you, Elena. All the way.” Lucien’s gaze softened as he looked at Elena. “We’ll protect you. I promise.” But even as he said the words, Elena could see the worry in his eyes—and she knew that, deep down, he wasn’t sure if they would all make it out alive. Suddenly, there was a loud crash from outside, followed by the sound of shattering glass. Elena’s blood turned to ice. “What was that?” Mia whispered, her eyes wide with fear. Lucien was already moving, pulling Elena and Mia behind him as he crept toward the front door. He opened it cautiously, and Elena peered over his shoulder, her heart racing. A figure stood in the front yard, silhouetted against the moonlight. It was Viktor. He smiled, his blue eyes gleaming with malice. “Hello, brother,” he said, his voice smooth and taunting. “I thought it was time we had a little chat.” Lucien stepped forward, his fists clenched. “Stay away from her, Viktor.” Viktor chuckled. “Oh, Lucien. Always so protective. But you can’t protect her forever. The Blood Moon is coming—and when it rises, Damien will claim what’s his.” Elena stepped forward, her fear replaced by a surge of anger. “I’m not a thing to be claimed.” Viktor’s smile widened. “Oh, but you are, little human. You just don’t know it yet.” Lucien growled, his eyes flashing with rage. “Leave. Now.” Viktor tilted his head, as if considering the demand. Then he shrugged. “Very well. I’ll go. But remember, Lucien—time is running out. And when the Blood Moon rises, there will be nowhere left to hide.” With that, he vanished into the night, leaving behind only the faint echo of his laughter. Elena let out a shaky breath, her hands trembling. “We need to be ready,” Lucien said, his voice grim. “Because he’s right. Time is running out.” Elena nodded, her heart pounding with fear—and determination. The Blood Moon was coming. And with it, their final battle.
