Truth revealed

499 Words
The air was thick with tension as Elena, Lucien, and Mia found a quiet spot by the edge of the woods, far away from prying eyes. Mia’s arms were crossed, her expression a mixture of confusion and frustration. “Okay,” Mia said, breaking the silence. “Start talking. Who was that guy, why did his eyes glow red, and why did he call Lucien his brother?” Elena took a deep breath, glancing at Lucien. He gave her a small nod, silently telling her it was okay to tell Mia the truth. “Mia, what I’m about to tell you is going to sound… insane,” Elena said. “But you have to trust me.” Mia raised an eyebrow. “After what I just saw? I’m pretty sure I’m ready for anything.” Elena hesitated, then said, “Lucien isn’t… human.” Mia blinked. “What do you mean, ‘not human’?” Lucien stepped forward, his dark eyes serious. “I’m a vampire, Mia.” Mia stared at him, her mouth opening and closing like she was trying to find the right words. Then she laughed—a short, disbelieving laugh. “You’re kidding, right?” she said. Elena shook her head. “It’s true. Damien—the guy you saw earlier—is also a vampire. He’s Lucien’s brother, and he’s… dangerous.” Mia’s face paled. “Wait. You’re serious?” “Yes,” Lucien said quietly. “And it’s important that you understand the danger we’re in. Damien wants Elena. He’ll do anything to get to her.” Mia ran a hand through her hair, looking overwhelmed. “Okay, wait. Vampires are real, your boyfriend is one of them, and his evil vampire brother is after you? This sounds like something out of a horror movie.” “I know it’s a lot to take in,” Elena said. “But I didn’t want to lie to you anymore. You’re my best friend, Mia. I need you to know the truth.” Mia was quiet for a moment, processing everything. Then she sighed. “Okay. This is… a lot. But I believe you. And if you’re in danger, I’m not going anywhere. We’ll figure this out together.” Elena felt a rush of relief and hugged Mia tightly. “Thank you.” Lucien watched them with a mixture of gratitude and concern. “You’re brave to stay, Mia. But this won’t be easy. Damien isn’t just dangerous—he’s relentless.” Mia pulled back from the hug and gave Lucien a determined look. “Well, if he thinks he can mess with my best friend, he’s got another thing coming.” Despite everything, Elena smiled. That was Mia—fearless, loyal, and ready to fight for the people she cared about. But as they headed back toward the school, Elena couldn’t shake the feeling that things were about to get a lot worse—and that their fight with Damien was far from over.
