Chapter4

The man in front of me looked at me like he already disapproved of me for his boss. Which was a good thing because the plan wasn't to get liked but to be disliked so the marriage would be cancelled. Dorthy had said she wanted me to act on a rude character, a character that wasn't her so I could be marked wrong, but the truth was, she was naturally rude, and I felt she would have played the role better than I would. So why did she want me to take up her identity? Maybe she was still in shock that her parents signed her up for an arranged marriage to their business partner just to sustain a good relationship between both family businesses. I looked at the man and blew a bubble gum as big as a golf ball. Anything to be disliked. "So miss..??"Dorthy had said the contract didn't mention her name on it, so I could use my name. "Lizzy, Elizabeth,"I popped another golf ball-shaped bubble. "Right, Miss Elizabeth"He eyed me. "My name is Brimley, Alexandro's chaperone."He raised his nose in the air. "And I would be speaking to you on behalf of him." "Whatever,"I rolled my eyes. I hope it was working. "Mister Alexandro would like you to be prepared, as you would be moving into the mansion soon"Brimley cleared his throat. "You know where I would like to move in?"I leaned forward on the table "Inside of you sir." Jesus Christ..what was that? Brimley coughed and fixed his tie while standing up from his seat. "Mr Alexandro will be in touch, Miss Lizzy."he gave a slight nod, and with disgust in his eyes, he walked out of the restaurant. "Phew"I let out a sigh of relief. Shivers ran through my body as I remembered my offer to Brimley and how shocked he looked. Dorthy did not need to fear anymore because Brimley was going to do a very good job of making sure the marriage was cancelled. The next couple of days were less tense, there was no call referring to marriage contracts and Dorthy was more in good behavior than usual, mostly. "It's fine Jess,"I chuckled "And no, you don't need to come over " "Yes, I am sure." "I would do just that,"I smiled as I listened to Jess remind me of the fist bump that awaited Dorthy if she made a wrong move. "Alright, bye."I dropped the phone. "Jesus"I screamed "You startled me"I said as I looked at Dorthy who was standing behind me with her hands folded. "What did you do?"She asked "I don't understand,"I looked confused "You were supposed to make him dislike you, dislike me."Dorthy prompted. 'Oh, she was talking about Alexandro…." "I did just that,"I reminded her "Then how come a call came in from the chaperone saying Alexandro wants you to move into the house by tomorrow huh??" "What??"I shouted in disbelief "What??"I said again. "Yeah, what, is the right expression"Dorthy shouted. "No no no"I shook my head "I can't get married, I can't go there, I don't even know him, he might be a very old man. Dorthy burst into a wicked laughter "The older the better, isn't it?" "Now listen up you b***h,"Dorthy's voice became more tightened. "You better fix this. I would not get married to someone my parents signed for me, so you do it. And don't even think of running dear"she pressed "I have eyes everywhere and I will find you and make you pay."She pushed me "Stupid bitch." I sank back into the chair, tears already taking form in my eyes, I watched Dorthy walk upstairs. ****** The journey to Alexandro's house was a long one, I remembered Dorthy's face as she watched me pack my bag. She had always wanted me gone, and I guess this was the best way for her to do it, sell me into slavery. I let my mind wander as I tried to imagine what life at the mansion would look like. What if he was old? What happens when he wants s*x? I groaned in pain and wiped my tears as I approached the door. Brimley opened as soon as he heard the doorbell "Miss Lizzy"He nodded "Mister Brimley,"I said shyly, remembering our previous meeting. "Alexandro is out for a meeting, but come, let me take you to your room."Brimley walked up the stairs while I stared at the aesthetic of the house. "Come now,"Brimley urged, snapping me from my daydream. "It's beautiful,"Brimley looked at me in confusion. "Your home,"I cleared "It's beautiful." "Hmmm,"he turned and continued walking. After a hot bath soaked in half my tears I lay on the bed wondering what next. 'So this is how my life turned out to be…' I stood up and went to the curtain. It was already late, yet no Alexandro, maybe he was mysterious. I stepped out of my room, shaking the stupid thought off my head. I walked into what seemed like a study room, but just bigger. There were a lot of books, maps, drawings and pictures. I moved my hands through the rolling globe and extremely beautiful drawings. I studied the pictures and transformation of each family generation. My breath stopped when my eyes found a particular picture. "Alex"The name came out like a whimper. I looked closely at the picture and saw the kid that made High school hell for me. I continued watching the transformation, maybe I was wrong. I stepped back as I realized I wasn't, they were all Alex. "What the hell are you doing here? The masculine voice stiffened my neck. It can't be…..it can't be… I turned and saw him, a little gasp escaped my mouth. 'it was him…' Alexandro' asin 'Alex' I was married to Alex from high school….
