“What the devil just happened? Are you insane?
Why did you have to talk like that to my employee? Please tell me what you were thinking.” Amanda was scolded by Daxton for her interactions with Winnie.
Rising from Daxton's leg, Amanda paced the office as if she were looking for something.
Then she returned to chewing her fingernails with Daxton. “Please tell me the truth because I have a question. Daxton, who is she?”
“Who is who?
To be honest, I have no idea what you are discussing.
We would benefit from it if you were more specific and did not mince words,” Daxton said, becoming perplexed.
“Stop acting as though you have no idea what I am talking about.
The b***h who just left your office is who?” Amanda sparked an outburst, saying, "You better start talking before I lose it.
She did not give him time to think before answering. Daxton could no longer bear the pressure.
“For heaven's sake, she is my employee. You must be content now.,” Daxton said.
“And you want me to think that?
What are you assuming about me? Dax, tell a child that. Why do I sense that you are cheating on her?” Amanda doubted him.
Daxton became agitated after Amanda made a serious accusation.
He motioned to the door and opened it without a word, allowing her to leave.
“Are you escorting me from your workplace?” Amanda pointed to her chest confused.
“You ought to be pleased that I am politely asking.”
Daxton threatened her, saying, “You do not want to see the other side of me, trust me.”
“And what happens if I do not want to go? How will you respond to this?” Amanda gave a dismissive shrug. She was not prepared to go anytime soon.
Daxton promptly called the company's landline after realizing Amanda was not prepared to depart.
“This minute, I need you in my office. There is a person who requires harsh treatment,”
Amanda became very anxious.
Suddenly, she realized Daxton was not joking.
She volunteered to leave the office. Glancing at Daxton, she strode to the exit door. “I am sure you will come and ask for my pardon. This is not finished yet.”
“How did we get here? Oh, no!” Daxton's mutter was brief.
He was still unsettled when he heard someone screaming outside.
He wasted no time in running out to quench his curiosity.
He was shocked to see Amanda and Winnie at his doorstep, just a few meters away.
Daxton looked at Winnie and saw that her eyes were red, as if she had been struck in the face.
“What just happened? Don't tell me it's not what I'm thinking?” Daxton threw his temper at Amanda.
She was never afraid of him, even when he was angry.
She did not tremble or blink her eyes for an extended period.
“Would someone kindly speak up? Have both of you suddenly lost your intelligence?” Daxton erupted.
Winnie was also not exempt from the shouting. She said nothing, simply held her chin, and went back to her duty post.
“This will undoubtedly reach your father. I suppose you have the ideal justification.” Like a warlock marching for battle, Amanda hissed and left.
She bowed as if nothing had occurred. She was only there for an hour, but already she had created chaos.
Amanda's treatment of Winnie made Daxton despise himself.
He was unhappy with Amanda's treatment of her, even though he would rather not get back in touch with her.
He considered pursuing Winnie and offering her an apology.
He pulled back abruptly.
His pride prevents him from doing that.
Daxton, unsure of what to do, went back to his office. Before his day had begun, it was already ruined.
The only person he could blame for everything that transpired was his father. He was introduced to Amanda by his father.
Daxton's father believes that a marriage between Amanda and Daxton would improve the ties between the two families.
When Daxton's father called, things became more complicated. His heart skipped a beat.
He knew the purpose of the call before he even answered the phone.
His father's phone call soon after his altercation with Amanda was not a coincidence.
“I will not respond to that. I am already aware of his desired topic of conversation.
I have already ruined my day.
There is no way I am letting my father add to that.”
His arguments with himself gave the impression that he was losing his mind.
Daxton lost it all a few minutes after he ignored his father's calls.
He had trouble focusing on his work.
Every time, he could not help but think about the missed calls.
He eventually decided to return the missed calls to find out what his father wanted to discuss after growing weary of playing the tough guy.
“Maybe it has nothing to do with Amanda. It could be something else,” he thought.
Although he was pretending to be upbeat, he was freaking out.
Grabbing the phone, his hands trembled as he returned the missed calls. He was becoming less confident.
“Hi, Dad.”
Daxton spoke first, drawing the first blood.
To avoid drawing attention to himself, he did his best not to stutter.
“Why have you not been answering my phone?” His dad got it exactly right. Daxton's politeness did not interest him.
“I was meeting with a client. I would rather not come across negatively.
Don't you already understand how these things operate?” Daxton was dishonest.
He was taught as a child that being honest frees one. Lying was the only thing that came to mind.
And it was successful.
His father never got into arguments or asked follow-up questions.
“How was the meeting with the Singaporean investors? Wasn't the deal finalized?” His dad inquired.
Daxton's tardiness in answering the phone no longer bothered him.
“Are you referring to Singaporean investors?” Daxton had a perplexed expression.
He counted the fictitious stars while gazing at the ceiling. Despite his best efforts, he was unable to come up with a solution.
