"I am sorry, sir.
I have a question for you: please promise not to get upset.” Winnie has requested.
“Promises are debts.
And you know what? I am not a debtor, so please spill. I do not have the entire day.”
“Your face looks very familiar.
Have we met previously?” Winnie questioned Daxton. Her curiosity has spread to every aspect of her face.
She could not get over the thought, even though Daxton pretended he had not met her before.
“Can you excuse me?” Daxton frowned and set his pen down on his desk.
"When did you unexpectedly become a detective? Does this place look like a crime scene to you, or am I missing something?
Are you here to work or to ask me silly questions because I do not understand?” He reacted angrily toward Winnie.
It was her first day at work, and she was already having problems with her boss. It was not what she had imagined.
“I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. It is just that… Forget it. I will just go back to my duty post,” Winnie says, making a U-turn.
She could not risk losing her job just to reconnect with her past.
As she walked out of Daxton's office, she saw Clara, the same girl she had run into earlier.
Clara had already passed Winnie before returning to her. "What is the matter? Having trouble adjusting to your first day of work, huh?”
“I am having trouble adjusting to life on Earth, but I will get through it,” Winnie said, walking away.
“What is she talking about?” Clara asked herself rhetorically, her voice echoing back to her.
She decided to stop worrying and head to Daxton's office with the files in her possession.
“Here's the file for the Chinese investors who arrived yesterday,” Clara explained.
Daxton pointed to the desk and asked Clara to drop it without saying anything else.
She obeyed without resentment. On the verge of leaving, she returned to Daxton, looking perplexed.
She wanted to ask a question, but she was unsure how to proceed.
"Why are you still in this place? I assumed you had placed the files on the desk already.” Daxton used harsh language with Clara.
Knowing that Daxton had never spoken to her in that tone of voice before made her feel afraid.
Clara answered, rubbing her head. “It is about Winnie, the new girl,”
“How about her?” Draxton asked.
"She is behaving strangely.
She had a frown on her face when I passed her a while ago.
Have you two got into a fight?” Clara questions her boss as if she were a fierce detective.
To increase the tension in Clara's mind, Daxton got up and made her laugh wickedly.
He approaches Clara with dignity and whispers in her ear. "This should be the last time you try to trick me like this. You will receive harsh treatment the next time it occurs.
“Remembered, sir.”
Clara bowed and turned to leave in terror.
She hardly knew Winnie, and she could not bear to lose her job in an attempt to defend her interests.
Daxton lost his temper shortly after Clara left. His migraines were beginning to appear.
There was no denying that he recognized Winnie from somewhere in the past.
He does not, however, wish to be brought back to the incident from the past.
He was only interested in focusing on growing his business. Regretfully, he is having numerous issues because of Winnie.
“Should I fire her or assign her to a different branch?” Daxton questioned himself.
Since Winnie works for him, he knew in his heart that it would be challenging to move on from her.
Daxton was lost in thought when he heard a knock on the door, which nearly broke his heart.
Since he believed it to be Winnie once more, he was hesitant to answer.
Having managed to mess with his head, Winnie was the last person he expected to see at that point.
He asked hesitantly. “Who is in there? The door is open; please enter.”
A woman entered the office a few minutes later. She is slender, light-skinned, with hazel eyes and blonde hair.
Her attire revealed her yellow thighs and cleavage.
She immediately approached Daxton and took a seat on his lap. When she attempted to kiss him, he resisted.
"Why are you in this place?
This minute, please stop stepping on my legs.” In a quiet voice, Daxton gave an order.
“Daxton, are you unfaithful to me?”
Amanda started crying.
“Not.
Why would you say such a thing at all?” Daxton rushed to his defence.
"So, why does my presence make you feel so uneasy?
You would have been thrilled to see me if you were not concealing something.” Amanda disputed. She looked sideways while folding her arms.
The idea was to appear sentimental to gain Daxton's sympathy.
"All right. I apologize for the way I spoke to you.
However, you should not have arrived dressed like this. You are aware of this company's reputation, aren't you?” Daxton moaned.
“However, I did it for you.”
She interrupts abruptly.
She continues to stroke his face. "I always want to appear lovely to you.
I believed that was what you had always desired. What has changed since then?”
Daxton grimaced and sighed. There was nothing left for him to say.
He thought Winnie's unexpected arrival was a sign to kill Joy, but then he saw that Amanda was more like an atomic bomb just waiting to go off.
While he was working through his options, Winnie entered the office without knocking.
She freezes when she sees Amanda sitting on Daxton's lap. She had forgotten why she had come to Daxton's office.
Her old best friend had become unrecognizable to her. How Daxton ended up that way was beyond Winnie's comprehension.
"Who in the world are you?
You have no right to enter without knocking.” Winnie was reprimanded by Amanda.
Daxton's intervention was necessary to prevent her from making a scene.
"I truly apologize.
I shall simply depart.
I will return when you are free.”
Winnie said as she left, leaving Daxton in a precarious position.
