“I missed you!” Aurora says, raising her wineglass in my direction.
“I missed you guys too,” I say with a smile.
I got back yesterday after the grueling road trip. I’m exhausted, and all I did was tag along with the team from city to city. The guys played six grueling games of hockey on top of all that.
MK leans closer. “Was seeing your ex-lover as hard as you imagined it’d be?”
I nearly spit out my wine. “My ex-lover?”
Aurora chuckles into her fist. “We were never sure what you guys were. Did you put a label on it?”
I shrug. “Do people even do that anymore? Put labels on things? We were serious, if that’s what you’re asking. It was more than just physical.”
MK gives me a sad look over the rim of her martini glass.
“And yeah, it was hard,” I say with a frown.
