Chapter Sixteen
Beatrice left the church, mulling over what Jack had said. Then she looked at her watch, thinking it might be good to check in with Piper. When she called there, Ash picked up Piper’s phone. “Hey Beatrice,” he said in a low voice.
“Is everything okay over there?” she asked.
“It is. I came home early today from work to help out. Piper didn’t sleep great last night and is finally taking a nap but Will has gobs of energy for some reason,” said Ash wryly.
“How about if I collect Will for some grandmama time? That way Piper can nap and you can get things done there.”
“Would you?” asked Ash, sounding relieved. “That would be a huge help.”
“I’ll be right there.”
