When it got too dark out to read and take notes, Luke closed the books, whistled for Tae, who was curled up under a tree, and they went inside. Setting the books on the coffee table, Luke went into the kitchen to see what he could fix for supper. A glance at the time told him Finn should be home soon, so he set to work making enough stew for both of them. “Well, sort of a stew,” he grumbled when he realized the only meat that wasn’t frozen was the steak he hadn’t cooked for Finn that morning, and a small package of hamburger. He found fresh vegetables in the fridge, and canned corn and beef stock in one of the cupboards. What he came up with wasn’t bad, he thought.
