Chapter 12 : King Arthur's Truth

All I ever wanted was to keep my people together. I know all the other leaders envy my position. If they get an opportunity they will unseat me. But I am much wiser.. I made sure I erased all their options. They certainly have no choice. I must rule the supernatural. They must all bow before me.

My people would definitely turn against me if they find out the truth.

They believe their lives is like a prison because they do not enjoy freedom like other supernatural creatures.

If only they know that they can be whoever they choose to be and remain that way if they want to.

But I wont let them find out. We have to stay together.

Without them I won't be on this throne. I am nothing without them. I really need them but I wont let them know that I truly need them. I'll keep them all in the dark.

All these years I've successfully hidden the truth from everyone. No one had a clue.

Then my stupid brother found out.

He knows how hard we fought to survive the great war. He also knows how hard we struggled before we got to where we are today.

I even made him a regent in Nexus. He was my second in command. He answers only to me alone..I did all these hoping he would stand by me. He is supposed to support me and hide our secrets so we can all live in Nexus in peace.

But No..He wouldn't have that...He kept pleading and begging me to tell the others that we can actually put an end to their mating problem.

I mean who does he even think he is??

Does he not know that if unmated creatures do not cause havoc then changelings would not be needed to defend humans and that automatically means that I won't be the overall king the supernatural creatures. I'll only be the king of changelings alone... Now tell me,, What's the fun in that??

I can't believe he actually went to report me to the leaders of every other creatures.

For crying out loud,, Hes supposed to be on my side. He is supposed to support me because he is my brother and I made him regent.

But No.. Like he said "He wants to do the right thing ".

He seems to have forgotten how we were scorned and ignored before the great war. After the war,,Every other creatures left Nexus and migrated to Earth but we were left behind.

They claimed we are the only creatures capable of maintaining peace and order between humans and sups. But the is that They are simply ashamed of us because we can take any form we want. They just don't want us to impersonate them because they see us as inferior creatures.

Now I have made us stronger and better than them all. We practically rule the supernatural world. Our numbers have increased over the years. Now we are unstoppable.

I've pushed my people to become better and now they fear and respect us.

Now Arnold wants me to throw away everything I have worked so hard to achieve just because of those ungrateful creatures that have been searching for a reason to return to Nexus and take away the throne from me.

Arnold wants me to let my people,, the true source of my strength to go down to earth and mate with other creatures so that the crime rates can reduce drastically.

But he seems to forget that without our strength in numbers we have nothing. We won't be able to defend ourselves. We would go back to being pitiful and vulnerable.

I would never allow that. Its gonna be over my dead body.

So when he brought the matter before the council and all the leaders of every creatures I decided to put him in his place.

So I put on my best poker face and attended because if I turned down their invitation,,it'll be seen as disrespect and pride which will be seen as confirmation that I have something to hide. I can't afford to be arrogant because It'll be considered as an act of war and I know if they all come together to fight us,, we'll surely be defeated.

And so I simply denied it all. That's the best course of action. I even accused my brother of creating false accusations because he wants the throne for himself. I even presented some fake evidence to support my claim that my brother is indeed jealous of me.

I actually thought that the case will end here because I had evidence to prove my brother is just jealous of me even though its fake evidence Whereas Arnold has no evidence to prove that his claims were true because I made sure I got rid of every evidence that could prove that he's telling the truth.

But my wishes never seems to come true because the leaders of the other creatures decided to do a trial by themselves to confirm the truth and the council supports their decision.

This was so unexpected. Now what the hell am I going to do about this decision of theirs??

I looked at Arnold to see the smug smile on his face. He thinks he has won but I'll never be defeated.

As agreed on the meeting eight changelings were selected. They were to go to earth with the leaders of each creature and they would find their mate's and get mated.

This cannot be allowed to happen. I could see all I've worked hard to accomplish crumbling down before my very eyes.

After the leaders left with the eight changelings I still sat down there thinking about what to do to stop all these.

I could use my strength as a fairy and absorb the powers of the crucial orb. With the powers of our ancestors in me,, I'll be unstoppable.

Now the problem with this option is that the council would never grant me access to the orb.. They know the powers it possesses is too great for anyone to wield.

I was still weighing my options when I felt someone's presence approaching me.

Arnold the traitor walked up to me and sat beside me.

King Arthur : You Traitor.

Arnold : Am sorry brother.

King Arthur : You are no brother of mine.

Arnold : Please brother don't be like that. I had no other choice. I did it for us all.

King Arthur : You did it for your bloody self you greedy fool. You want fame for yourself. You want all we've worked hard to achieve to be a waste.

Arnold : What have we achieved?? We've only succeeded in turning changelings to robotic soldiers. Can't you see?? Our people are not happy with the way we live.

King Arthur : Speak for yourself alone. don't involve our people. They have all they could ever need and more. They are stronger and feared and they command respect wherever they go.

Arnold : That does not complete them or make them feel fulfilled and happy. They don't get to find their mate's and feel the true bond of mates as intended by our makers. Rather they are forced to mate with anyone just so our population can continue to increase. They train all their lives then after serving faithfully in the field they return to Nexus to mate and increase our population. That is not living brother. We are all living like slaves.

King Arthur : And who are you to decide what is good and what is bad for my people?? You are nothing without me. I made you regent. I can easily strip you of everything. I can take it all from you as easily as I gave it to you.

Arnold : Stripping me of my post does not change the fact that your people need to live a fulfilled lives just as our makers wanted. please brother,, just let it go. You are among the few who is lucky to find your true mate. You enjoy the bond of a true mate. Please brother,,Grant that same happiness and fulfilment to our people. Let's just do the right thing and it'll benefit us all... please brother.

King Arthur : You're so pathetic. As of today,,I denounce our bond as brother's because your nothing but a bloody traitor. I would have stripped you off your post as regent but that will only give the council a reasonable reason to query me.

Arnold : Don't do this brother. please I beg you in the name of all our makers. Please brother.

King Arthur : Mark my words "Brother "... I would make you pay for your betrayal. I would never give up this throne. I would use any means necessary to fight for the throne of Nexus. Not you or anyone can take it away from me. You just wait and see.

Arnold : You're taking this the wrong way brother. It doesn't have to be like this. please brother...

I ignored him and walked back to my room to think of a solution to my problem.

As soon as I entered my room, i met Carla my mate lying on our bed looking as beautiful as an angel. I inhaled her sweet scent and it calms me down immediately. She's pregnant with our first baby.

I have to fight hard so my child will be very proud of me. I have to do everything possible retain my position as king of Nexus and king of changelings so my child will inherit it all from me.

Then suddenly an idea just appeared in my head.

I will stop the trial.

I wont let the Carillion change to be completed..I will do everything possible to stop their complete transformation into those stupid creatures.

I smiled to myself. I know exactly what am going to do.

Every good thing comes at a price. Losing A few lives for our kingdom to stand won't be considered as a crime. It will be seen as sacrifice.

Carla felt my presence and turns around to look at me smiling.

I walked up to the bed and removed my shoes so I can lie down beside her.

Carla : You sure look very happy. I guess the meeting went well.

King Arthur : Hmmm.. The meeting did not go exactly as I expected. But there is always a solution to every problem.

Carla : Care to share your solutions with me??

King Arthur : Laughing.. You don't even know the problem. So tell me love,, How would you understand the solutions??

Carla : Laugh all you want Arthur. Its your fault that I don't know what is happening in a kingdom which I am the queen. Am just pregnant yet you treat me like some fragile doll that can break at any moment.

King Arthur : I kept laughing at her antics as she frowns her face and complains about how she's being treated.

I don't want you worrying your pretty little head about anything my love. Don't forget you are carrying the heir to the throne of Nexus.

I promise I'll tell you everything once you deliver our baby safely ok?

She smiles and hugs me while I hold her in my arms as my brain continues to plot on my next course of action.

Deep down in my heart of hearts,,I know I'll never tell her anything.. I'd rather make up a story to tell her instead of telling her the truth.

This secret cannot be shared with anyone,,not even my mate.
