Seeing Orlando, the child happily laughed and stretched out his chubby hands toward the screen to ask him for a hug.
Orlando softly smiled, "Do you want me to hug you?"
Eaton heavily nodded, "Yeah."
Orlando took the opportunity to request, "Kiss me."
After Eaton unwillingly pecked the screen with a frown, Orlando smiled and stretched out his hands to make a hug gesture in front of the screen.
Eaton immediately beamed with satisfaction, and his crisp laughter echoed through the study.
The maid suddenly said, "Sir, the teacher arrived."
"I see," Orlando said before reluctantly turning off the computer.
When Jessica woke up, the bedroom was pitch dark. So, she reached out to turn on the light. After walking out, she didn't see Orlando.
Seeing her, a servant asked with a smile, "Ms. Pratt, do you want to have a meal?"
Jessica waved her hand and told her she was not hungry.
After she went downstairs, she saw the busy housekeeper. So, she casually asked, "Where is Orlando?"
"He is on a business trip."
What? Jessica frowned because it was sudden.
Seeing her confused, the housekeeper added, "He goes on a business trip every Friday."
Jessica felt free and happy when Orlando was away these two days. And she went to the hospital to see her mother.
Seeing her, Daisy asked, "Miss Kirt, why didn't you answer my call that day?"
Jessica smiled without answering. Orlando had been beside her when Daisy had called her. She had been afraid her mother would notice anything wrong, so she rejected the call.
Jessica put down the things she had brought and sat beside the bed to peel an apple for Gail, saying, "Mom, I talked with Dr. Glover. Please take good care of yourself. You will have a transplant operation once a suitable heart is available."
Gail took the peeled apple over and asked, with a hint of worry in her eyes, "Jessica, how did you get so much money for the operation?"
Gail used to be a well-known beauty. But now, she was skinny because of the illness.
Feeling distressed, Jessica hugged her and said, "Don't worry about money. I hope you can recover. Promise me you will not get that excited again."
Jessica still had lingering fear at the thought of what had happened that day.
Gail touched her hair and smiled, "OK, I'll listen to you."
After leaving the hospital, Jessica went to the city center. She had received her diploma. But before she could find a job, Gail had fallen ill.
When she had chosen her major in college, the Kirk family had been famous in the high-society circles, and she had been a wealthy young lady with no worries. She used to be lazy, so she had chosen to major in administration and planned to work in her father's company after graduation. But unexpectedly...
At the thought of his, Jessica closed her eyes.
"Ms. Kirt, I've read your resume. You're good. But can you tell me why you took a year off in college?"
At the thought of the scar on her belly, she narrowed her eyes and said, "Because something happened to my family."
"I see."
The interviewer asked, "When can you start working?"
"Next Monday."
"Good! Please come to the company at eight on Monday. I will ask a colleague to help you get onboard."
"OK! Thanks."
It was not a big company. But it was safer for her to work in such a medium-sized company because of her current situation. Moreover, she would have more free time here. And the salary was reasonable.
But she needed to pay Daisy's salary and return half a million to Orlando, so she decided to work a part-time job at night.
If she could work in a training institution, she could make a lot of money, and the working time would be flexible. Jessica's parents had forced her to learn various musical instruments and dances since childhood. So she could teach others now.
She searched for jobs on various websites and finally found a part-time job as a teacher in a dance training institution. Her class would last two hours every night, and she could earn three hundred dollars per hour.
Orlando got off the plane at night. As soon as he entered the door, he removed his coat and asked, "Where is Jessica? What has she done these two days?"
Hearing her find a job as an administrative assistant, he stopped unbuttoning his cuff and chuckled, "How much is her salary?"
"It is a middle-sized software service company. And her monthly salary is three thousand five hundred dollars."
Orlando frowned, "It's too low. Ms. Brown is pregnant. Tell her she can start her paid vacation from tomorrow on."
Talon didn't know what Orlando meant until he said, "I need a new secretary."
He immediately said, "Got it, Mr. Pratt."
Orlando put on the coat he had just taken off, asked Talon for the car key, and said, "Give me the company's address."
Talon glanced at him and asked, "Are you going to pick up Ms. Pratt in person?"
"Yes."
When Orlando arrived at the company, it was about seven. He sat in the car and waited for a long time. But Jessica did not come out after all the lights in the office building went out. Feeling something wrong, he took out his phone and called her.
Hearing her panting on the phone, Orlando raised his eyebrows and chuckled, "What are you doing? Are you doing bad things behind my back?"
Jessica hadn't danced for a long time. After a class, her face turned red. She had stared at her phone for a long time before answering the call.
"Why did you call me?"
She didn't realize he had returned from the business trip. He had disappeared for a few days. So, she was confused when he suddenly called her.
Hearing her heartless tone, he angrily gritted his teeth and asked, "Why? Did you hook up with someone else?"
