Chapter three Richard’s point of view I looked up at the crowd gathered in front of me, my best friend by my side as he rubbed my back giving me the assurance that I can do this. My eyes roamed around the gathering, till it landed on the female I met earlier while coming in; the rude one. I smirked at her, she caught the smirk looking around to be sure it wasn’t directed to her. Ray walked to the podium as he tapped lightly on the standing microphone, a light screech filled the hall before his voice followed. “I won’t say much and just get to the point. As you all know I’m just the Director of this company and not the real CEO, well I’m glad to introduce to you the CEO and the founder of Rich’s Refineries, Mr Richard Wilson.” His gaze narrowed back to me as he began clapping his hands. Murmurs was the first to arise before everyone started clapping his hands as I was invited to the stage to say a few words. “Hello everyone,” I greeted in a deep rough voice the moment my lips met with the microphone in front of me, my face went back up after putting on the most solid expression ever. “I have a reason why I’m unknown, and you should for no reason try to question why I’m known now.” I ended my statement walking out of the stage and out of the hall through the exist privately located up here. Ray followed suit trying to keep up with my pace, “Yo cool down,” he said in between breathes the moment he got to my side. “There’s no time Ray, put me through everything I need to know and get someone to have my office ready before we’re done.” I told him as I pushed open the door of his office opened and walking in. “And I will also like to have the file-book of all the employees.” I added, looking over to him to see if he heard what I said. He nodded, indicating he’s following as he walked past me going to pick up his landline, inputting certain numbers, there was a click sound before a voice came out from the end. Ray gave the order to clean my office and move on to the next by ordering a secretary of his to bring me the files I requested for. “Now that you’re back, I want to take a very long leave Richie, momma is sick and she said she wants me beside her.” Ray said to me, leaning on the desk as he gave the news. I gasped at that, the woman has been nothing but a good person to me ever since I met her. She’s like a mother to me. “Why didn’t you tell me this sooner silly,” I walked over to him slapping the back of his head as he chuckled. “I didn’t wanna bother you,” he defended, opening the drawer and picking out his car keys and some other stuffs. “Bother me? Bro I hate you for this, what is wrong with her?” I asked, really hoping it’s not that bad cos I don’t get why Ray’s attention would be needed. “Nah just a minor sickness, she just misses me if she’s being honest, and I gotta gift her my face then.” He assured, raising his body back up and now facing me. “Bro I might be back in a week or two, you sure you can handle all of this alone?” He asked, gazing at me with full concern. “Sure man, will be sure to update you on how everything goes.” I smiled at him, I wonder how we manage to stayed best friends since we graduated high school years ago and even went to same college. “Bye! I will tell the secretary to tend to you and fill you up on other things.” He said, walking towards the exits. “Yeah sure.” I replied, his body went out of sight after. I took a seat on the executive chair in front of me waiting for the so called secretary to arrive so we can finally start today. A knock came gently landing on the door hindering my attention and having it snapped at the door. “Come in,” I authorized, waiting for whoever to come in. Looking from below, a woman with tiny brown long legs walked in with her feet inserted in a red high heels, looking up my face met with the rude woman I met earlier today at the elevator. How funny, she’s the secretary. “What do you have for me?” I questioned coldly, her expression becoming priceless as she try so hard to cover it, she was looking so scared. I smirked inwardly, I’m gonna make her pay for what she did, you don’t act rude to strangers you know nothing about. She’s gonna learn her lesson. “I- I- you- you- sir- sir- uhm,” she stopped when she’s not getting her words straight, her face was starting to drip off sweats. “I won’t take this unserious-ness lightly, so I’m going to ask one more time. What do you have for me?” I said in the same cold voice, repeating myself. “I have here with me…..” >>>>>>>>>>>>> I crashed tiredly on the large provided couch at the comfort of my office as I loosened my tie. God I totally forgot about the struggle of being a CEO, and not of any company but a very rich one. I have had three solid meetings with different companies looking to invest here, I see through the whole of all this to make sure tomorrow will be less hard for me. I clicked on the button provided on my desk to signal the secretary I needed her attention, she came running in not too long with her head bent. “I’m going, get my things and meet me in the car.” I instructed standing up and making my way out of the office. My steps towards the elevator was swift and soon I got there, I clicked open the elevator and was about to close it when the secretary rushed in. Her gaze met mine as she quickly look away bending her head. I smirked closing the elevator as it started moving downwards. It dings, spewing out a tired looking me and a frustrated looking secretary, I walked majestically heading out of the building only to be face with tons of paparazzi. Cameras flashed in my eyes from different angles, different microphones were pointed at me, questions flooded my ear. “Are you really the owner of Rich’s Refineries?” One of them had asked. “Why are you anonymous for this long?” Another question from one of them. “Why did you decide to come out now?” Another question from them. “Does your father know you own one of the richest company like his?” I ignored all the questions, I gave the secretary behind me a look as she signaled some guard to come over, they came making a way for me over to my car. I walked hastily entering the car after instructing the secretary lady to drop my stuff inside it. Without no hesitation I turned on the ignition, revising backward and making my way out of the vicinity. I drove through the big city of Los Angeles heading back to my father’s house to go pick my things when I remembered what I promise to get Rose; my little cousin. I made a turn going into an unknown street, moving down a bit I sighted a mini restaurant. Thank God, they should have ice cream of course or any kiddies sorts. Vivian’s point of view Looking up at the clock, it dings 5 o clock in the evening, meaning it’s another break time. I waited for some minutes to see if the boss will want me before I go have my breakfast that I haven’t had since I stepped in here but she didn’t, and that’s a relieve. “Hey Vee, sorry I’m here very late, gotta sort some things out,” the girl have been expecting greeted, finally showing her face. In her hand is a small bag that contained the food I told her to bring me. “Just follow me,” I gestured as I move out of the counter, going to my private spot at the restaurant’s backyard. I sat on one of the seats made out of trash bag while hijacking the bag away from Amber; my best friend, whom I have known since I was a child. I opened bringing out the fresh burger and soda can, I devoured the snack like my life depended on it, finally giving the worms in my stomach something to feed on. “Don’t tell me you haven’t had anything since Vee, why didn’t you call early?” Amber questioned, taking notice of how fast I was eating the food. I wasn’t free when we had our first break so even if she brought the food then, I won’t be free to eat it, I was with my boss giving her a feet massage as usual; how disgusting and I dare say nothing. She knows I have no phone and always calls with the customer care landline, I had to sneak in when I’m sure no one is watching and the one in charge isn’t there to call her. We heard a weird movements approaching us until a face showed up. Oh great, luck is just something I lack. “And the wretched girl eats, she even has a friend.” She taunted with a devilish smirk on her face. I don’t know what I did to her, but she’s the most wicked of all the bullies I developed here. Maybe in our past life I did something to offend her and never really paid for it, and now she’s taking it out on me. “And what is that suppose to mean frog face?” Amber defended, already taking a fighting stance. Oh yes I forgot to say my best friend is just someone that doesn’t sit well with being disrespected or her best friend getting disrespected; in nutshell she has low tolerance for bullshits, and her rule to other people is to never mess with the people she loves, and luckily she loves me. “I wasn’t talking to you big mouth, so learn to mind your business,” she said, turning away from me and to Amber totally. Oh I pity this girl, and happy that she’s gonna get what she deserve today at least. “Who need the lesson other than a b***h with messy eyeballs that looks just like frog or with the face of a suffering goat that needs more suffering. If you don’t want my fist doing a make up on your ugly face, I suggest you run your way out of here real quick.” She glared at Amber before backing out and walking away. I laughed silently at what just happened. “What’s funny?” She asked, sitting down beside me. “I’m glad someone finally put her in her place at least, my break is over Amber. I gotta get back to work, that’s why she came here in the first place.” I stood up dusting my cloth all over. “Since you started this job we haven’t gotten any chance to hang out, gosh it’s sickening.” She whined childishly, looking at me with baby eyes. “I don’t know Amber, but hit me up on Sunday and let see what we got. Bye for now.” I waved at her one more time before entering the little shithole I call working place. I went back to my stand waiting for customers to show up. The door dings as I looked up to see who entered only to be face with the most beautiful exhausted creature have ever laid my eyes on. His eyes landed on me, as he walked straight up to me, giving me the full access to see how amazing God’s creation is from this guy facial physiques. The last I needed right now is to gush over a man that would never want me so I better snap back to reality. “What would you like to order sir?” I asked politely, clearing his face off my mind and focusing on my job. “A cup of only you.” To be continue…..
