Chapter One
“What?!” Amelia exclaimed. “Mommy, is everything okay?” Little Fiona asked softly as she paddled her way toward her mother's yell in the kitchen. “Oh, honey, nothing is wrong, go back to your room now”, Amelia patted Fiona’s head and urged her in the direction of her room. The moment Fiona disappeared, Amelia turned back to her husband and asked again. “What did you just say?” “I said, we might be moving from this house because I already used it as collateral for a loan and I was not able to pay it back, now they want the house, so we have to move out”, the said husband, Jonathan, said with a bored expression. “You used the house? Why? I thought the business was doing well. What happened? What is happening Jonathan, talk to me please”, Amelia let out a sob. Jonathan had always been like that, and she could not find it in herself to leave him, not after bearing him two children. Whenever they were enjoying themselves or having a good time, Jonathan always finds a way to destroy everything without even trying. It was he was made to always destroy their happiness. “The business needed more money, so I took a loan, plus it is my house, don’t question me, woman, just pack your things, because I have already found a small apartment downtown”, He responded in a tone that left no room for arguments. “Jonathan, come back here”, Amelia shouted after her husband, who turned back with the intention of not looking back. “I cannot believe this”, she muttered as she rubbed her head, feeling a slight headache forming. In the room where seven-year-old Fiona was quietly sitting for her parents to finish their argument, she could feel pain in her body, and she wanted to go out to her mother, but the instructions that were given to her were very clear, stay away from the kitchen, even though that was not the exact words that were uttered to her. Amelia had no other choice than to quickly move their things. The last thing she wanted was to be embarrassed by the loan officer, she knew how persistent and impatient they were since it was not their first-time moving places. In no time, Amelia was done packing their things and ready to leave with her daughter. "Fiona, come, sweetheart, let's get going", Amelia called out from outside of Fiona's room. "Mommy, where are we going?" The little girl asked her mother "We are simply going away for a little while darling, to a better place", Amelia replied with a soft smile. "But, Mommy, I love this place and I get to play with Rebecca next door", Fiona complained with a pout on her little face. "I am sure you can make a lot of new friends where we are going, come on, your father is waiting for us outside", the mother urged her child. Fiona being a gentle and obedient girl to her mother, got ready quickly as her mother went into the other room to take care of Fiona's little brother, Joshua. "Are you a ready woman?", The head of the house called out from the front door, feeling impatient already as if something was on his tail? "We're coming!" Amelia called out Soon enough, they were all packed in their van with every necessary thing until the movers brought their things. Fiona still had her out in her face, but there was nothing she could do but obey her parents. And as sad as the memories of her leaving her favorite neighborhood were, that was the last she saw her father. "Please, don't leave me", Fiona remembers her mother begging her father on that fateful day, but alas, there was nothing that could be done to deter the man from his decision of leaving his family behind. All Fiona could do was watch her mother break into tears as the back of her father was turned to leave. She was only nine. Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, in the Black Thorn Pack, chaos was unraveling as the Alpha had just found out, that his doting mate and Luna had committed the highest sin of all time. Cheating. In all of the pack's history, cheating was considered the highest sin, as they believed that mates are sacred and should be treated with the utmost care, but for Luna Sage, that was not the case, she gave in to lust. "You will leave this pack, never to return, if you were to defy this order, you will be killed", Alpha Rowan commanded in his alpha voice that had little effect on the wolf in question as she was an alpha herself. "Can I bring my child with me?" She asked in a boring tone and the alpha watched in disbelief as his said mate felt no remorse for her rebellious action. "No, you may not bring the child, the child stays here to be raised in a pack where he belongs", Rowan said through gritted teeth "Of course, he deserves a pack that loves him. Take good care of him Rowan", that was the only time sage's voice softened, it shows her affection toward her child. Although an alpha female is not as close to their child as an Omega female would, a mother's instinct could never be denied in both. With that, Sage walked out of the pack house, with no look back. The whole pack members watch the seen unravel before their very eyes and they watched their Alpha crumble at the loss of his mate and Luna. After a while of holding Twelve years old Javier and watching him with emotionless eyes, Alpha Rowan walked into his room without letting go of Javier, he told the child to sit carefully as he looked for the book he needed. He was feeling rage at that moment that nothing could stop him from bringing harm to the child. Rowan carefully recite the words in the pages of the book he had found, when the recitation reached the middle of the page, Javier fell to the ground and gave out a loud cry, even for a male child was destined to be Alpha, the pain of having your wolf taken away from you is close to unbearable. "Shhh", Rowan patted Javier's head on the ground as he was feeling glad the spell was over. "It has to be done, child, it has to be done", he said mostly to himself than to the child, who was lying unconscious on the floor. At the same time, the spell was being placed on Javier, Fiona who had been crying over her father leaving and never coming back and was about complaining to her mother about an irking headache on her head. "Mommy, I feel pain in my head", she grunted as she held her head. Amelia sniffled and liked in the direction of her daughter who looks familiar to the man who just broke her heart. She almost didn't want to answer Fiona, but there was no going back she was our daughter and her responsibility. "Where does it hurt sweetheart?" She asked as she cooed a bit "Here", Fiona touched  "Okay, I will get you something for the pain, and I don't want you to cry anymore, okay? The crying is making you a headache, you should not cry, okay", Amelia said to Fiona. "Okay, mummy". With that little stunt, although unknown to them, the two little ones became tied to each other and they became each other's destiny, without knowing it. As Amelia struggled to keep a roof over her head and feed her children at the same time, so does Rowan could not wave the feelings of sadness he got whenever he saw Javier. Before the two parents knew it, their children had grown up so much. Amelia could not believe when she had to wish Fiona a happy twenty-first birthday, and Rowan could not believe when the time came for him to relinquish his throne over the pack to Javier at twenty-five. How time flies. "Do you promise to take the whole responsibility for the whole pack and be their one true Alpha?" Rowan asked at the celebration of choosing the alpha. "Yes, I do", Javier promised. "Do you swear to put the safety of the pack first and obey its every rule?" "Yes, I do" "And do you swear to listen to every member's plight and be their mediator if the need arises?" "Yes, I do" "Black Thorn Pack, Your Alpha!", Rowan shouted as he pointed to Javier who was kneeling for the vows. "Alpha Javier", the pack members bowed as a sign of respect "You may rise now, Alpha" "Thank you, alpha", even though, Rowan was stepping down as alpha as the tradition of the pack wanted, he was still an alpha and would always be treated as such. "Thank you, Pack, we have our run tonight under the full moon gaze", Javier announced, making the whole pack howl in joy. There was nothing a pack loved more than going on a run with their Alpha. Now, that Javier was of age to take over the pack, his father, Rowan thought it was okay for him to run the company in the human world as well. Contrary to popular belief, the werewolf pack lives in harmony with the human, not most of them knew about the supernatural, but they cohabitate to make both humans and Werewolf thrive well. Javier's father has built quite a reputation for himself in the human world with the various companies he oversees. The construction, the power, and many others. That automatically makes Javier a billionaire the moment he took over the companies. It would have been a hard task for him, but he had his best friend and beta go through that journey with him. "You should go out more, you know", Lowell suggested, as he sat in a chair in Javier's office, the latter was sitting at his desk, going through some emails. "Hm", Javier grunted in reply and as if Lowell had deciphered everything he needed to say through that grunt, he replied "Of course, you never know what is waiting for you, but some experiences are worth the trouble", Lowell shrugged " Don't you have something to do?" Javier questioned exasperatedly. " Of, course, you're dismissing me as usual, sure Alpha, I will get out of your hair now", Lowell bowed mockingly and fled the room, when Javier's resonating growl was let out of his throat. The two had been best friends since they were little, and despite Javier being two years older and a little reserved, that didn't stop their friendship from blossoming. Fiona's luck was better as she was graced with two amazing friends that loved her to death and would do anything to make her happy since they knew her story. Zeke and Bella were everything Fiona could ask for in friends. "I could see that guy checking you out", Bella wiggled her eyebrows. " Stop that, you look weird", Fiona scrunched her face. " You know that's the truth, you can't even deny it" Bella insisted. " Come on babe, if Fiona said there is nothing there, just accept that, and stop pestering her", Zeke scolded before Bella could say anymore. Fiona breathed a sigh of relief and went back to cleaning the dishes. The three worked in a restaurant that paid them well and made them fare enough to take care of themselves. "Thank you" "You're always welcome, Fiona", Zeke smiled, making Bella pout. " You two are always ganging up on me, no fair", Bella said, making the other two chuckle. A group of men had come to their restaurant earlier, and from the way they looked, they worked in a prestigious organization, but one of them noticed Fiona and how beautiful she was, that he could not take his eyes off of her, that didn't go by Bella, and she decided to tease her friend about it. Despite being an adult, the last thing on Fiona's mind was a commitment to a relationship. All she wanted was to survive and help her family have a better life. After her father walked out on them, her mother had been struggling to make ends meet, and with her little brother in the picture, she needed to do everything she could to make it easy on their mother, which was why she was a focused and intelligent young woman. "Bella, I noticed it too, you know the last thing on my mind right now is how a man looks at me, I could care less", she sighed as she told her friend to take her out of her misery. "I know, Fi, I know", Bella laid a reassuring hand on her shoulder and gently pulled her in for a hug. The Three best friends were often assigned the same shift at the restaurant. They loved it. That way they could keep an eye on each other. Back at Javier's office, Lowell walked back into it, ready to give good news to Javier. "What is it again? Lowell, don't you have better things to do?" Javier rubbed the bridge of his nose as he looked at his friend in a boring manner. "I do too, I simply came back to tell you that I've made your reservation as well for the worker's dinner", Lowell pouted with his fingers crossed, hoping that Javier would agree this time. It was a little tradition that the pack members, who were also workers at Javier's company, every last weekend of the month, would get together to celebrate their little wins and just be in the midst of each other. But, for as long as they have been doing the tradition, Javier has never joined them, so the pack members have the task of their beta. Get the Alpha to come. "Lowell..." Javier started but was interrupted by his beta and best friend. " Come on, you're their Alpha, they need to see you more, even for a little while" "Okay", he reluctantly agreed. "Please, come-, wait!" Lowell's face beamed into a bright smile and went to pull Javier up from his chair. "Don't push it Lowell", Javier warned begrudgingly. " Okay, Alpha", the said man rolled his eyes and pulled his alpha out of his office, glad that he was able to accomplish his task. The other pack members that were awaiting the beta, expecting him to come alone gasped when they saw him holding into the Alpha, they were surprised. In a good way. "Thank you for coming alpha", Trey, the member in charge of the get-together bowed slightly to his Alpha and boss, as the said man simply nodded and led the way. The restaurant they were supposed to dine at, was not so far from their company, so they were okay with trekking, what was little trekking for a wolf of their caliber? As everyone chatted happily, Javier felt restless, he could not point out where the problem was from. If he had a wolf, he would have blamed it on his other half, but he does not have a wolf nor a mate, both of which were supposed to make him feel restless, but he lacked both, so it was hard for him to say where it originated from. "Are you okay, alpha?" Lowell asked after seeing the expression on Javier's face. "Hmm", Javier simply nodded and continued walking. The nearer he got to the restaurant, the more restless he became. The moment he opened the restaurant door, he locked eyes with a girl that looks ready to clear a table. Everything he was feeling pointed to one thing and one thing alone, for that he could only think one thought. "Oh, no!".
