Chapter 1 - Six Rings of Danger.
Aurelia. My eyes suddenly flew open. I quickly placed my hands over my mouth to stifle my gasp. Did I just forget to take the pills?! Of course I did. How could I be so careless? I jerked upright. Immediately pains and exhaustion slashed through me... I gave a low groan as I angled my body to a side to feel less pain. My hands went under my veil, I grimaced as my cold fingers caressed my swollen cheeks, my mind recalled... "Stupid Omega!" "You are too slow! Hurry up!" "You smelling thing!" Each of the words were followed with slaps and violet pushes which had me landing on the floor or against the wall with great force. The veil over my face could never shield me from those eyes blinding slaps which on each occasion had sent me seeing stars. If I was told this would be my reality I would have laughed it off and thought it senseless but here I was... I swallowed hard. My hands balled under my veil until I heard them crack... I took in a deep breath, forcing my anger down. "Remember, accept all treatment. After all, you are an Omega slave." A small familiar voice sounded in my mind, the very instruction that had kept me going. Quietly, I pulled out my bag, my eyes went from one angle to the other making sure no one was awake or watching me... no one must know about this, about the real me. Let them continue to see me as the weak, veiled, useless Omega until everything is perfect, then they did f*****g know how wrong they are. I pulled out a black parcel, unwrapped it and finally I stared at small pieces of greenish pills. I took three pieces of it, my usual dose. Slowly, I raised my veil just enough to open my mouth, I swallowed the drug, fished for my bottle of water and drank it, pushing the drug down. It whimpered. Faint. Almost Inaudible. That was my wolf. My lips stretched into a sad little smile. Though it was faint and almost gone, I could still feel it. I miss my wolf I miss shifting, racing, the wind blowing hard against my face … I miss… I shut my eyes as I recall beautiful memories of racing, laughter, fun, chatting and… Then suddenly— My lids squeezed tighter. My breathing quickened and my heart slammed painfully against my chest. “No. No… not there…. “ I stammered as my fingers gripped the ground, I tried to push them back, to leave them buried but it blew down my resistance, my defence and flooded my mind and head. “Mother! Mother! No! No!” “Aurelia… go! Run. You must—” Her voice was cut off by a loud, agonizing scream. And then blood. Blood everywhere. My eyes snapped open… and finally I was able to push the thoughts back, down and buried. My vision blurred as tears soaked into my veil. “You are closer than you think." I muttered with a nod as I arranged my bag and laid down to sleep, the coldness of the floor welcoming my body. When I stepped in this palace as a slave, I was given a mattress but I was bullied and it was collected. Well, was I not a weak and useless Omega after all? Under my veil, my lips stretched into a smile as I closed my eyes to sleep, “Just a chance, an opportunity…” I whispered my prayer, just as every other night. Just a few minutes into my sleep, the loud sound of the city bell echoed. Again, my eyes flew open. "Something is wrong." My guts whispered. No one rings the bell in the night except there was troub- My line of thoughts was cut off by the second ring which was immediately followed by the third and fourth rings. Maids began shifting, yawning and stretching. "Fifth ring?" Someone asked, voice laced with confusion. My brows pulled together in confusion. In Western Kingdom of Velmora Realm, there were numbers of bell rings and its meaning but five rings was never a thing. "Isn't that noises I hear?" Another maid asked, I could hear it too but before anyone could react, the sixth ring came. I gasped which was followed by several others. Sixth rings were never a good thing… It meant someone was dying, someone of importance. Someone that shouldn't be dying… But who? Suddenly, our door flew open, almost pulling the weak thing off its hinges. Seeing Mistress Donna standing with folded arms looking all angry, I, alongside everyone, jumped to their feet, heads bowed, hands placed behind our backs. “Madam Donna-” "Fools! Get up now!" Mistress Donna yelled, cutting off our greetings. Different distressed howls filled the air from a distance. Oh, this is bad… I thought, still wondering who was dying. "Make way! Make way!" A loud voice sounded from outside, "Get the infirmary ready." "His Grace. His Majesty. The King of the West, Alpha of all Alphas, Alpha King Alaric Leontius Valerian has been injured in the battle field!" "Make way, get the infirmary ready!" The voices continued yelling, in haste and urgency. "Oh goddess!" Exclaims filled the air, everyone rushed out of the room following the racing mistress. I didn't move. I couldn't move. Did I just hear right? The Alpha of Alphas.. Alpha King Alaric got injured? The Monster of the West? The very reason why my plan seems to be stuck? Unbelievably. I remembered that a week ago, I overheard the bodyguards discussing rather quietly about the 'meeting' the Alpha King was supposed to attend. My guts did tell me that a meeting being discussed with such secrecy was fishy, so it was a battle? Damnit! I hissed. I should have listened more, I should have dug more, eveasdropped more, my plan would have been brought to life by now. I missed an opportunity there… I felt annoyed with myself. Wait. Now, he was injured, almost dying. My lips curled up .. Another opportunity lies just in front of me and this time, I am grabbing it. I took to my heels, racing to the infirmary. My heart pounded with anxious excitement. Was this the very day my plan would be actualized? Was this the very day my prey would fall into my trap? The first day I stepped foot on the western soil, that was four years ago, I knew it wouldn't be as easy as I had planned but I had to be patient. Four years was nothing compared to the agony and pain I had gone through and all because of that monster. Just as I neared the infirmary, I saw a huge grey wolf shifting back to its human form. Elder Sage, the healer, rushed into the infirmary and I hurried behind him.
