I don’t know why I’m being so unreasonable, but the truth is that I’m hurt, confused and anxious. Colton rejecting me was something I wanted, but now that I’m being affected by the bond, I’m not sure if I can handle it.
“Why do you look so sad?” I look up and see Adrian casually laying on a tree branch. He’s twirling a flower between his fingers and his shirt is unbuttoned at the top. I start laughing hysterically, making the man frown. “Does nothing move you?”
“I like gifts,” I reply. “But not the ones that cost a lot. I like thoughtful presents.”
“How can I satisfy that wish when you won’t tell me what you like?”
