Chapter 69

Nova, told me to run earlier because of the Shinigami’s bullets raining down on us, but now where is she? I don’t know what is she doing but I am positive that there is something wrong, that’s why I stopped on my tracks and turned back just to find Nova.

I am not leaving in this place without her in my side. There is still heavy fire back there so Nova must still be in there stalling some time for me to escape, but I am not the one who needs protecting because I am the one that should be protected.

“Damn it, Nova,” I uttered to myself while I run back towards the place where I ran from earlier. I have a pistol and a rifle on my hand right now, and this will help me. I ran inside and saw that there are already a group of enemies and what surprised me the most is that they are already carrying Nova, full of injury and she is unconscious. I don’t know what happened to her exactly but one thing is on my mind right now and that is to save her.

Upon arriving, I did not fail to get their attention and they immediately raised their guns and points it towards me. My feet moved on its own as I dashed to cover to hide myself from their bullets. There are too many of them and within that short period of time, it is plenty enough for me to analyze all their positions, especially Nova’s.

“Garrison, eagle is almost on ground where the hell are you?” this is not the best time Garrison.

“Dealing with some unexpected issues,” I replied to the radio.

“Go,” I heard a familiar voice, a voice that belongs to the guy that we are finding. “Save her,” he added, this is from Troy and I am so surprised to hear his voice right now.

“Where the hell are you?” I asked him because I know that Nova is not agreeing to leave without him.

“Just go,” he replied ignoring my question but my thoughts were cut off, when I heard a loud explosion from behind. I stood up immediately as I have a strong feeling that this is Troy’s doing, upon getting up, I saw that all of the positioned enemy from earlier are now scattered and what alerted me is that Nova might be caught in that explosion.

I jumped through this terrain that I am hiding behind right now, oh... Nova why are you like this, I ran towards this corpse that’s been caught up by the explosion, I quickly scanned every bodies that I am passing by, in hopes that I can see her immediately.

What caught my attention is the pile of bodies that I saw from a distance and I have a bad feeling that Nova might be in there, that’s why I rushed towards the pile of bodies, and when I reached it, I lifted every body piled on it and there are some rubbles.

There are some conscious people, but I punched them in the face as hard as I can to render them unconscious again, and I threw them away besides me because one person is on my mind right now. But unfortunate for me and it is weird for me t think that Nova will be under this bodies, obviously she is not here.

So I moved on quickly because I don’t want to waste any time on something that will not help me to find her. Where is she? After finding Troy she is the one that is missing really.

Well, technically she is not missing, because I have already seen her, being carried by the men that I saw earlier, and that explosion messed things up.

“I swear, if something bad happens to Nova because of Troy’s explosion,” I said while I am gritting my teeth. Yea, I promise that he will regret every bit in his life for dropping that bomb above the ground.

Now, I am nervous that I cannot find her, maybe they are successfully in extracting her, that might be ideal because she is still safe but her identity will be known towards the other side and no place outside her place is safe anymore.

I heard a female voice, groaning in pain from distance but I cannot tell what is the exact location, maybe because this place is so vast and there is no of exact way on telling where the sound is coming from. But before I can find her, I need to deal with these pests first.

There are so many enemy back ups arriving in this place, and sooner or later, they might surround us completely and even capture us.

But I was surprised when multiple explosions happened again and I can see it preventing them to advance.

“Leave them to me,” I heard Troy’s voice again on the radio and no I am certain that all of are his doings. “Go save her,” he added and that is what I am planning to do Troy, because I am really worried about here right now.

I tried to locate the location of the groan that I heard earlier and every rubble that might hide a person underneath, I lifted it up and threw it on the side, in hopes that I can find Amber.

The good thing is, I can still hear the groaning that helps me to find her. I looked around and I saw a hand being covered by small pebbles, I can’t clearly see who it is because i am pretty far away from the body, that’s why I sprinted as fast as I could towards her, hopefully.

Then my eyes widened when I confirmed that it was really Nova, and se is still unconscious and maybe for some reason, her body can still feel the pain that might cause her to groan, but I wasted no time so I carried her in my back, and that sacrificed my rifle and I am currently holding on a pistol right now to fight back.

“Garrison we are on our way to the exfil point again,” I informed him. “Prepare for evac, I got wounded on my back,” I added so that eagle will prepare himself and already landed.

“Copy, eagle already landed on the exfil point and his team are experiencing heavy fire right now,” he informed me and yet that is another surprise for me.

“Affirmative we are going towards the location right now but the Shinigami is still on us, just hold on,” I said to the radio.

“Be quick, we are experiencing heavy fire, I repeat we are experiencing heavy fire on here right now,” we can hear eagle’s feed on the radio right now with the gunshots in his background. Then I saw Troy meeting us.

“Hey,” he called to us.

“Don’t you hey me,” I said to him because I am still angry to him for leaving without notice, if he did not disappear, we might be in the exfil point right now taking off to head home.

Then smokes appeared behind him, which confused me the most what is happening right now.

“Just follow the smoke I already deployed them on the way and they are all remote controlled so don’t worry, and run,” he said to me. “The smokes will at least help you hide from the Shinigami,” he said.

“There are enemies chasing us, let’s go,” I told him because we are getting out of this place together not just me.

“Don’t worry about the enemies,” he said to me seriously. “There are mines already planted on the area, just run and I will be right behind you, the boss’s life is much more important than mine, so just run,” he added and I can hear the panic in his voice.

He pushed me a little because right now he is desperate because I am not still running away. Right now, I am hesitant because I don’t know what to do anymore. I don’t know, should I leave him?

Just because I am the one that is in the middle of this situation right now. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.

“Just be sure to be right behind us,” I told him and he just nodded at me and I started to run.

“Just follow the smoke, I already planted it, and it will lead you straight to the exfil point,” he said on the radio, and honestly, I am very surprised that he already did all of these.

Maybe this is the reason why he disappeared in the first place, because he is already thinking way ahead of us, and that is well done by him because it is not easy to do all of that in this situation especially that the enemies are aware of our presence, especially in the Shinigami’s eyes, he avoided it, and just praising him is more than enough.

“Thank you,” I replied to the radio while I continue to run. I ran on zigzag because the Shinigami might be predicting our movements again.

Fortunately, after all of that time of running I did no encounter any problem and when I got out of the smoke, I immediately saw the chopper from afar and saw the eagle team firing their guns, I also saw myself nearby to the enemies’ side so I quickly withdrew my pistol and started firing at the enemies while I run towards the chopper.

“Quick help me here!” I shouted and one of them quickly rushing towards me and helped me to carry this unconscious girl. Then aw loud rumbling caught our attention and saw that the cargos are being moved. “This is not good,” I remarked and I quickly went inside the chopper, as well as the team.

“Start the engine now,” one of them said and the pilot started the engine.

“Stop,” I said. “Troy is still not here,” I informed them.

“But miss Alexis they are moving the Shinigami on our position right now,” one of the eagle team members informed me. “If we don’t take off now, we will be dead, all of us,” he added, and I grabbed my radio again.

“Troy where are you,” I asked.

Then the Shinigami started firing at us.

“We are hit!” the pilot shouted.

“We can still fly right?” I asked.

“Positive,” the pilot said, and he started lifting the chopper up. Then another smoke appeared in our location but was quickly dissipated by the chopper. Then multiple explosions happened that helped us to get out of this place.

“Deliver the boss home,” he said on the radio.
