Chapter 10

“Are you serious?!” Kuro asked me in disbelief, after my father Nab is one of the most fearsome members in our organization. “Just facing him, gives me the chills,” he said, expressing the chills that he is experiencing. Me and John stare at him in disbelief, Kuro one of the bravest men known in this world is afraid of Nab. In the corner of my eye, I saw John’s lips formed a smirk.

“Why are you chickening out right now Kuro?” oh god they are at it again. “I don’t know that you are a baby in front of him,” he taunted him and proceeds to laugh and Kuro is about to get mad at him but before that happens, I stopped them.

“Hey guys come on! This is some serious matter enough with your childish fights,” I lectured them and they back off on each other. Despite these usual fights between them, they are the best duos that you can find in a battle field. “I am serious we need to reach out for Nab for the plan,” I told them. “And we are doing this, all of us,” I said and marked Kuro with my eyes since he is the only one out of us three, who is afraid of Nab. “You are needed because we will discuss about the plan, just hide the fear if you can,” I said and I ticked him off for some reason.

“I’m not afraid of Nab!” he shouted at me, this guy really. I sighed, such a quick-tempered person.

“If you say so,” I replied, and I don’t intend to argue with him.

“That’s what you said earlier,” John tried to put some fuel on the fire.

“Stop it,” I confronted him so that we can go on and proceed to the plan, he looks at me and smiled then he backs off, I turned my head towards Kuro and I raise one of my eye brows as he intends to answer back to John. I put my palm on my face and shook my head, it’s tiring taking care of adults that has a childish mind. “Nab is probably checking on his gym, and there is no one training right now since it is Sunday, this is the perfect time to discuss with him regarding with the plan,” I proceeded to explain my plans. “Before he goes somewhere, let’s move now,” I said while turning my back on them and opening the door. I heard their footsteps following me.

To be honest, I am also nervous talking to Nab face to face, in fact this is the first time that I will reach out to him. His division has the most least members in the whole organization, and the reason is his scary aura that pushes people away from him. Those who are willing and brave get to join his division but despite the number of his members, his division is one of the core foundations of our organization and has the most reliable and powerful men. I think each of them can give the berserker a good fight, they might not win against her one on one, but they can give her a struggle. Nab might defeat her.

I walk downstairs since his gym is located underground of this mansion and can only access it through its dedicated elevator. I scanned the whole area to find where the elevator is since this is the first time that I will reach that place. I think, that’s it, I thought when I saw elevator doors in the corner of our mansion.

“Let’s go,” I invited these two and we boarded the elevator and once all off us are inside I pressed the only button that will lead us underground, towards Nab’s gym. I can feel some excitement inside my heart and fear at the same time. The lights are dimmer here in this are than on the surface and I noticed that Kuro is shivering, I ignored it since giving a comment about it will lead to a child fight between John and him. John is just standing still showing no emotions, he just stares at the doors blankly as if there is someone in front of us. Oh god, I hope not.

Moments later we hit the ground and the doors slowly opens, I feel like that I am a detective unwrapping the mysteries behind a crime, that’s the only words that I can think off to describe what I am feeling right now. My jaw dropped when we are greeted by a large gymnasium that can be compared to a foot ball field, since this place is underground the ones in the surface won’t notice that there is a gym under them. I was overwhelmed as I am not expecting it to be this big.

We stepped out of the elevator and no one has noticed us yet since there is no one here. We can’t see Nab in this large gym. We took our time to take a tour in this place.

“Woah,” Kuro exclaimed, from being afraid to amazed.

“This is really overwhelming, doesn’t it?” John said looking around in the place.

“I agree with you,” I said while we walk slowly inside this gym. “I never thought it to be this big, I expected it to look like just a normal gym, like the ones built on the surface,” I added. We saw multiple boxing rings aligned in two columns. In one corner, the training equipment are located there, and punching bags aligned in one side.

“Impressive,” John remarked when he observed the training equipment. I must say that I am impressed too because he has complete equipment that can train the whole body. I saw fighting mats all over the place, I think this is used for sparring matches.

“I think we should visit this place more often so I can train my close combat skills,” I told them and Kuro raised his both hands.

“Don’t count me in, nah bro,” he said, well nothing will make a difference if he is with us or not.

“What brings you here?” a deep voice asked from behind us. Our feet froze at once when we heard that voice and we stand straight immediately. “Oh, it’s the boss’s son, it’s my pleasure to see you here young master,” he said with respect upon identifying my identity.

We turned around slowly to face him and we felt so much pressure in front of him.  He is not that old compared to us since he is just 3 years ahead of us but his facial feature is as of a middle-aged man. His beard is abundant but has facial features that women will admire.

“We came here to seek help,” I told him and he scanned us three, especially me as if he was determining that I am telling him the truth. I am telling the truth that’s why I look confident in front of him.

“Tell me what is it,” he requested and I cleared my throat preparing myself to spill all the information that I had in mind.

“Okay, as I had said earlier, we seek for your help,” I started the discussion. “During the shipment, I want you to hunt down the berserker,” I told him directly and I saw that his expression is questioning my motives which is what I want. “The berserker is always chasing me when I am in the battlefield, it’s like that she has a grudge on me, but I don’t know what,” I explained.

“She?” he asked, oh he does not know that the berserker is a woman. I have a clear view on her and we fought that time in point blank range but all I did was run away from her.

“Yes, she was a woman,” I clarified to him. “It may be unbelievable at first, trust me, she is more capable than you think of,” I added. It sounded like that I am siding with that crazy woman. She almost killed me and not just that, she also triggered my emotional trauma. I have so many reasons to have a grudge on her.

“Tell me more about her,” Nab showed interest on her which is good.

“Well, she chased us down in a fricking car chase on foot, can you believe that? Not only that she just tore down our car roof with just one hand,” I brag about her and I feel so disgusted towards myself. “Also, she almost took down John,” I added.

“Hey! Why are you telling him that?” he protested and I heard Kuro laugh besides me. “Hey chicken shut up, don’t laugh at me,” he insulted Kuro for laughing at him. Oh god! Here we go again.

“Stop,” Nab’s raised his deep voice and its much colder than before, I saw the two behind me behaved quickly and stood straight. “Our ninja was almost defeated by her?” he asked again wanting clarification from me.

“Yes, she almost took down John,” I clarified and I felt John’s stare at my back. I don’t think that I am going to be alright after this discussion. Well what choice do I have, except telling him all what she is capable of. This is all part of the plan.

“Then that’s a deal for us,” Nab said and I stare at him confused. “I am really looking forward on meeting this berserker, she might give me the thrill that I have been longing for,” he added and I felt so much relieved after hearing that. “But I am not going to abandon you completely, here is my condition,” he said and I am all ears, Mr. Nabua. “I am the only one that will hunt her down and my men will stay on watch for you as your father and I agreed upon and if the worst-case scenario happened and you needed my help, take this,” he gave me a flare gun. “Shoot that in the air and I will prioritize on saving you,” he added and I nodded at him.

“Then we have a deal,” I told him and I reached my hand to him to seal the deal. We shake our hands to show that we both agree with the plan.
