649 Words
Ava trudged into her dorm room, her mind still reeling from the detective's words and the ominous note on her car. She felt like she was walking into a nightmare, the shadows on the walls seeming to closing in on her. She dropped her bag on the floor and collapsed onto her bed, her thoughts racing with worst-case scenarios. The detective's accusations and the note's sinister message had left her feeling vulnerable and trapped. Ava's eyes darted around the room, as if searching for an escape route or a hiding place. She felt like she was being watched, the silence in the room oppressive and heavy. She tried to shake off the feeling, telling herself she was just paranoid. But the words of the detective and the note lingered in her mind like a dark prophecy. With a sense of unease, Ava got up and locked her door, as if that could keep the danger out. She then pulled out her phone and considered calling her parents or a friend, but what could she say? That she was being accused of murder? That she felt like she was in danger? Ava's thoughts swirled in a vortex of fear and uncertainty, her mind racing with questions and doubts. She felt like she was walking on thin ice, with no safety net to catch her if she fell. she tried to get the thought off her mind but it just seemed like the more she tried not to think of it the more it resurfaced. She tried to convince herself that a warm bath would help calm her nerves, that was all she needed right now. She began to undress, but as she glanced at the mirror and down at her body, she noticed something odd. Her body looked all hairy, she had shaved those last night, how come they just grew back suddenly? She ran her hand over her arms and legs, feeling the unexpected stubble. Confused, Ava checked her skin more closely. The hair growth was excessive, as if her body was somehow... changing. She felt a shiver run down her spine as she wondered what was happening to her. Ava tried to push the strange sensation aside and focused on preparing her bath. But as she sank into the warm water, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Her body felt different. She hastily got out of the bath, her mind racing with concern and uncertainty. She quickly dried herself off and put on a pair of trousers and a hooded sweatshirt, trying to cover up the unwanted hair that seemed to be sprouting from her skin. The hood cast a shadow over her face, hiding the hair that had grown on her cheeks and chin. She felt a sense of urgency to get rid of the hair, as if it was a tangible manifestation of the chaos that was taking over her life. Without bothering to dry her hair or apply any makeup, Ava grabbed her purse and rushed out of her dorm room, almost colliding with a classmate in the hallway. She apologized absent-mindedly and continued on her way, her sole focus on finding a*****e on campus that sold shaving supplies. As she walked across the campus, her eyes scanned the buildings, searching for the student union store or the pharmacy. She spotted the union store ahead and hastened towards it, her heart pounding in her chest. Once inside, Ava made a beeline for the personal care section, her eyes scanning the shelves for shaving cream and razors. She grabbed a few packs, not even bothering to check the prices, and headed to the checkout counter. The cashier raised an eyebrow as she rang up the items, but Ava just shook her head, too preoccupied to explain. She paid and left the store, her pace quickening as she returned to her dorm room.
