6. Prison Break

Dante's POV I'm helpless against the police dragging Cassidy away in the middle of our make-out session. My heart beats frantically as I rush out with them. I've never been this agitated in a long time. "Dante! Dante, please save me. I'm innocent. I didn't steal anything!" Cassidy cries. "You have the right to remain silent..." The officer pulls on Cassidy's hand when she resists them. "Hey! Go easy on her!" I shout at the man. "Don't worry, Cassidy, I'll sort this out." I am genuinely worried about her. Minus the fact that she is the key to unleashing my wrath on the Calloway group, she is pregnant, and such harsh treatment puts her at high risk. Downstairs I watch them drive away with Cassidy in the police car. She looks back at me through the windshield with terror and a silent plea in her eyes. What if she loses her babies? That would be a major loss to me. I need to do something. Fast! Immediately, I bring out my phone and make a call to Miko. "Hey, Miko! Come with my lawyer immediately to the police station. And get the fifty million ready." "Yes, sir," Miko replies and I cut the call immediately. Rushing back to my room, I grab my coat and car key and go back downstairs where my Bugatti is parked. The news of Cassidy's arrest is already on the radio as I speed down to the station. I increase the volume, and the announcer's voice drones on about the impact of Cassidy's arrest on her social image and influencer deals. "Classy Couture might just be closing soon as fans don't want to patronize a thief..." The announcer says. My jaw clenches at the falsehood. How is the media so quick to label a person as a thief? I took the money just to spite my unfortunate stepbrother and father, so I'm sure Cassidy is innocent. Inside the police station, Cassidy is making a scene and threatening the detectives; it's a pitiful sight. Such scenes don't fit the woman I'm to call my wife. Miko arrives a minute later with my lawyer. "Are you with the money?" I ask Miko "Yes, sir," he replies and hands the briefcase to Barrister Lawrence. We approach the commander of the unit. The dark-haired, muscular man sits behind his desk in his blue uniform. His eyes trail up to me menacingly as if he already knows what I am here for. "We need to see Cassidy," I tell him. "You cannot see her right now, that thief is undergoing questioning." He says with a hint of defiance in his tone. I scoff at hearing his reference. "You have no right to call her a thief." "Why not? Do you know how long we have been investigating this case? And the culprit has been right beside the victim all this while!" "Do not jump to conclusions based on cheap evidence, officer. And you won't ask my wife any further questions without my lawyer present." Having enough of the commander's bullshit, I give my lawyer the go-ahead to enter the investigation room. "Stop right there!" The commander attempts to follow my lawyer, but I block his path. "You won't want to do this by the time I show you how much you've been misled," I speak to him in a calm tone. He turns to me with angry eyes. "Why don't we have a seat and let me show you what real evidence looks like." The commander studies me sceptically. There's a threatening flash in his glare then he turns sharply and takes his seat. "You had better have something good." "Save your breath," I say, passing some papers to him. One look at the document and his eyebrows raise in shock. He flips through the papers and looks up at me, trying to conceal his fear. It's no secret to me how the Calloways, especially Mondrich Calloway, manipulate things to their benefit. Good thing we're all of the same bloodline. "Who are you?" The commander asks. I stare him down, irritated by his corrupt attitude. He wants my identity so he can tell the Calloways to 'shut me up'. But he wasn't informed. I'm one person Momdrich Calloway fears with all his life. "Cassidy's husband and I want her released. Now!" The commander stands up from his chair with a fake smile. "Sure. Sorry for the mix-up earlier. You know, as law enforcement, we fight for justice. I will get her right away." I trail after him with my eyes as he leaves the room, then stand up and follow him. I need to see what is going on in the investigation room. No one can hurt my Cassidy. We are just getting to know each other, but the lady is a gem, easy-going, charming, and has the most sexy and alluring figure I've ever seen. How dare Richmond blame her for a crime, she's an angel. I watch her through the window of the investigation room. My lawyer stands beside her, speaking with the detective and the Commander. My eyes trail up her legs, getting lost in the softness of her bare thighs and continuing up to her plush breast, rising and falling with her heavy breathing. My jaw clenches as my body swells up with desire. When we leave here, I'll ride her all night until all she remembers of this evening is the feeling of me digging into her. I swallow hard and look away before I get a hard-on and the officers notice. The briefcase containing the fifty million sits open on the table. The commander stops in surprise when he sees it. I hope the money drives my message into his brain: this case should dissolve here. Bending down, he whispers something to the investigator. Cassidy is visibly in a state of confusion and upheaval. "What are you whispering? He has brought enough evidence that I'm innocent. The money has also been paid, let me go!" The commander turns to her with an annoyed expression. "Yes, since you've returned the money, you can go!" Cassidy's mouth drops in shock. "I never took it in the first place! Are you people daft? Don't falsely accuse me like that. You know I'm innocent..." I sigh tiredly. Women can be really dramatic. I shake my head and leave the scene to take a breather outside. Richmond has made his strike. Now? It's my turn.
