Chapter 30: Clyde

''Clyde?" I hugged him. It had been a long time since I saw him. I thought Kate's parents killed him after that night but then here he is, standing in front of me. I can't believe that he is alive. After seconds of hugging him, I realized that I was with Detective Lovely right now. "Do you know each other?" Detective Lovely said, "Yes. He is my--", "I am Zach's dad, our son." Lovely just nodded, "I didn't know that you had a family."Zach scratched his head. I could see that he changed his looks, he was now wearing black pants and a white shirt with a denim jacket. "It was a long story." He said, Lovely, tapped his shoulder, "Protect your family." And went away. I looked at him with the question, "Zach is my son, and you are his mother. So that's why." He said, and I still don't know why he needed to say that. I know that he is the father and is right to say that, but why does he need to introduce me as if I am his wife? Or am I just assuming it? "Let's go." Since I did not bring my car, we use his car.

He really changed, his change was good. I was just looking at him the entire trip. "What?" He said and smiling, "Where have you been these past few years?" I said, I really can't take it after how many years that he left Zach at our house. My brother even died. He didn't show up. Birthdays, graduation and all of the achievements that Zach had, he didn't show his face in front of his son. Then suddenly, he introduced myself to be my bodyguard and introduced me to his family. "I will tell you later when we go home." He said, "WHAT DO YOU MEAN WHEN WE GO HOME?" I shouted, I can't take it anymore as much as possible. I've been controlling my emotions right now, "I am your bodyguard. That's why I am also going to your house, and if you are not ready to introduce me to Zach, it's okay. I consider you as his mother, but I think I have rights since he is using my surname." He said, "Clyde, do you hear yourself? Where are you? How many years? Zach is now 23 years old. You left him. He is just a newborn baby. What do you expect?" I said and now I can see the guilt and pain on his face. I think I said too much but I only said the truth. "I am with him. I saw him grow Melissa, I just don't know how I will show up." He said, "I told you I would tell you everything that I've been through." He said and held my hand, "But I would like to thank you for everything that you've done I my son, and your son." He said in sincere tone, "Thank you so much, Melissa" i just nod, "Tell me everything later." I said. He just nodded, "Since I need to start over again and make it up to you. I will cook for you." I am not used to this Clyde, he changed a lot.

We are now here in our house. I am staying in Guillaume. I will stay here for good. Good thing, Landry and Zach are the ones who are staying with my mom. Lavinia is nowhere to be found. And we are the only ones here in the house. "This house never changes. It's still the same." He said and entered the house, "I miss coming here with Bradley. I remember those days." He adds. ''I went to his funeral but I was away, I saw Divina and their daughter." He walked to the living room and I think the memories from the past with my brother is what he is seeing right now. "I remember the day that we used to talk about the future. He said that if he had a son he would call him Zach and if he had a daughter, he wanted Divina to choose the name of it." I walked to the wine cellar, and took the glass of wine and poured us a drink. After I did that, I gave it to him and pointed to the sofa for him to sit, "Thank you." He sat on the sofa and drank the wine, "You know I prefer beer over this, but since you gave me this. I will drink it." He said and chuckled and looked at him with irritated eyes but in a joking way. "You know that I am kidding, right?", "Yes, I know!" I said and drank my wine, "You never changed Melissa, you are still the snob woman that I met." I just smiled at him well everyone on our campus looked at me as a snobbish woman, I just hate talking to others except them well Clyde is also on it. "I am happy when I know that you name him Zach because I know that's what Bradley wants." He said and pour a glass of wine into his wine glass. "He is the one who suggests it, actually Bradley is the one who acts like a father to him. That's why they are close to each other. And I am the one who looked up to Annie when her parents died." I said, " I went to their funeral still, good thing that I am still not dying and no one killed me." I am out of wine because of what topic we have. I did not notice that I had already drunk all the wine in my glass. He got my glass and poured the wine."I decided to be a detective for me to be able to protect myself from Kate's parents. Up until now, I knew deep inside that they knew he was still looking out for me.'' He just held the wine and looked at me.
