Her Decision

Chapter 4: Her Decision Elena stared at the contract all night. Pages of rules. Clauses that made her stomach twist. A signature line that could change her life—or ruin it. But what choice did she really have? Her mother’s hospital bills were growing. The landlord had already posted the eviction notice. And her fashion line—the dream she’d sacrificed everything for—was days from collapse. She needed this. She needed him. The next morning, she walked into Wolfe Tower with a fire in her chest and the contract in her hands. Jaxon was alone in his office, pouring coffee like it was any other day. As if he hadn’t flipped her life upside down with one sentence. “I’m in,” she said. He looked up. A slow, knowing smile curved his lips. “Smart woman.” “I have conditions,” she said quickly. He raised an eyebrow. “I won’t be paraded. I won’t be controlled. And I won’t sleep with you just because the contract says I should.” Jaxon stepped closer, his voice deep and velvety. “Elena, I didn’t ask for a slave. I asked for a wife. You’ll be treated with respect… but don’t mistake that for weakness.” She didn’t flinch. “Then don’t mistake me for someone you can own.” For a moment, their gazes clashed like fire and ice—equal and defiant. Then he held out his hand. “Welcome to the contract, Mrs. Wolfe.” She shook it, her palm small against his. And just like that… her fate was sealed.
