The Unwanted Mate

Answers Pt I

Nina had changed into a pair of jeans and a black crop top and was sitting on the bed in the bedroom she had come to call her own in her uncle's house or as she now knows to be the pack house. Everything felt like a dream, nothing made since. There was a knock at the door

"Yes."

"May I come in niece?"

It was uncle Robert, Nina smiled and replied with a yes. Although they started out on the wrong foot Nina over the past two weeks had come to find comfort with her aunt and uncle. They had three children of their own who were her newly known about cousins. Jeremy, Zane, and Kendrick. They were handsome devils and had she wolves everywhere howling for them.

"How's your headache? Miranda said she gave you some human aspirin." Uncle Robert walked to my bed and I moved over for him to sit.

He did.

"It's better, Uncle..?"

Robert sighed reaching out and patted his niece's leg, already knowing what she wanted. Robert looked at the girl, his niece and he couldn't help but acknowledge her natural beauty. She was raven haired like her mother, her brown skin was flawless with the exception of the dark brown dots sprinkling the bridge of her nose. Her eyes were a rich cinnamon color.

"You are just as beautiful as your mother."

"You knew my mother?" Nina asked curiously.

"Oh yes, Shelly was a sight for a wolf's sore eyes." He chuckled as he could feel his mate jealousy.

"Edward and I had been home for the summer break from school. We both had opted for going to school with humans because Edward had felt that the tide was changing and we needed to be more involved with humanity. Our father the Alpha at the time agreed with the future Alpha although others were not as convinced. Yet we thought nothing of it.

It was all hallows eve, Halloween is what I believe your kind calls it, but there was a campus party and your father and I attended, Shelly was there and bam it hit him like a lightning bolt. He had found his mate and she was human, which mean she engraved him making the bind even more stronger."

"Engrave?" Nina asked now again more confused.

"It's hard to explain, but it's something like a marking from a human, it's like our wolf is seen in the human's past lives that engraved them. So when your father locked eyes with Shelly he saw himself with her in her past lives, so she knew he was the one she too had been looking for."

"So this mate bond and engraved business is pretty strong huh? Nina asked.

Looking as his niece, Robert spoke truth to her, "Your father is dead because your mother died, how's that for strong."

Nina didn't understand.

"Once a wolf finds his mate it is for life and death do you part. The wolf bond means a wolf has found their best friend, they have found the love of their life, their reason to breath, it also makes wolves very possessive of their mate."

"So once my mom died, dad's beast couldn't live without her" Nina whispered to herself.

"Yes. As much as your mother loved your father, she would not allow him to turn her into a full blooded wolf. Because of course if he had she wouldn't not have died, unlike popular television shows that depict werewolves as weak, but actuality the werewolf is just as powerful as the undead, " he laughed at Nina eyes widening

"Vampires are real too,"

"Yep, so are witches and warlocks, demons and angels."

Nina shook her head.

"Uncle Robert this is alot to take in."

Robert squeezed his niece's hand as a silent jester that he understood, he had not agreed with Edward's decision to not tell his niece of her family's legacy. He had hated Shelly for refusing to turn and become one of them so his brother would stay in the pack house, but he sighed and realized there was nothing more he could do. Things were as they were. And Nina still had questions and he hoped he'll have the answers.
