Fire of Desire

Hi my name is Lorelei Legaspi, A province girl, Davao is my hometown and I may say that it was a nice place to find a peace of mind and also to relax and forget your problem. Our lifestyle here is very simple Our houses are made of woods and the food that we ate are from our garden, we usually use water pitcher to fetch water to drink, also we use well to wash our clothes and to wash the dishes. We spend our day planting vegetables,fruits, flowers and making chicken coop. We sell our chickens and vegetables during Thursday but the money we receive isn’t enough to sustain my studies. Life in a province may be peaceful but the income that we earn is not enough to make us rich or even live in a convenient life. “ Ang hirap maging mahirap! Palagi nalang walang ulam!” Reklamo ko habang naghahanap ng gulay sa bukid. I desire to be rich and start a farm business here in Davao but how can I do that when I don’t even have one cent in my wallet and there’s a possibility that I will stop going to school this year. “ Lore! Halika dito! Dalhin mo itong saging sa iyong mama at ilaga niyo” pagtawag ni Nanay Tina sa akin “ Huwag na po! Nakakahiya nanghingi na nga po Ako ng sitaw bibigyan nyo pa Ako ng saging” tangi ko sa matanda “ Naparami kasi yong kuha ko, sainyo na ito huwag kanang tumanggi” sabay bigay ng saging sa akin ng matanda “ Naku! Salamat po talaga, ipaghahatid ko nalang Po kayo mamaya ng law-oy” naka ngiti kong sabi sa matanda. “ abay! Hindi ko tatangihan yan” pabirong sabi ng matanda “ Aalis na po ako, Salamat Po sa bigay n’yong saging at sitaw” paalam ko sa matanda We have a friendly neighbor here in davao, but we cannot avoid hypocrite people. Living here may look and sound easy but when you experience the life here in province you would definitely say “ absolutely hard”. ————————————————————- -Law-oy is a visayan word refers to a vegetable soup.
