Chapter 1
It was a windy morning, and a young girl just entered her room. And she was widening her eyes as her gaze got locked in the corner of the room. A small light-brown cat purrs to her, looking back at the girl who stares at him for the last two minutes. "Oh, no," she cried, "why are you in my room?" The cat, with an obvious reason, couldn't reply in the same way as her. Instead, he purred once again, and walked closer to her. "Mrs Jeannie wouldn't like even a bug entering her building. I'm sorry. I have to put you outside. Also," she spokes in a sad tone, "I just finished my detention. I’d like to not have another day.” The cat purrs for the third time—while he jumps on the girl's bed, rolls himself in the soft-purple blanket. The girl giggles smally, and joins the cat. She strokes the cat—suddenly he stops rolling, and staring at her with the clear eyes he got. "Oh, you are looking at me!" the girl flattered, "only if we can call each other's name. I'd like to have a friend, but I don't think you can find food in my room." As she finished her sentences, an old lady burst in without knocking on her door. The girl squeaks, and there's no time to hide the cat. The old lady switches her glimpse at the cat and the girl, waiting for a word to come. "Now, now, Miss Betsey. May I ask you, when will you be bored to make another problem in this house?" the old lady asked with a sweet smile on her lips, yet the girl fully understood that it didn't stand for a warm-hearted smile. It's scary. "Forgive me, Mrs Jeannie, this cat entered my room by himself. I don't know how—he was already here when I came here." "Get it out. You shall gather up in Main Hall after," Mrs Jeannie firmly said, as she closed the door behind. "Well, you heard her. I'm sorry, little cat," Miss Betsey then held up the cat and brought him outside—as she then walked in to reach Main Hall. The school always had a routine checkup each week. She saw all the kids were already standing there, as well as Mrs Jeannie and several staff walking around and checking every kid. "And perhaps you can try to raise your chin, Miss Cornwell, you will get it in. And it will be pleasant to see, I should add," Mrs Jeannie stares at one girl to one, as she throws the sharpest words she could've made, "where are your gloves, Miss Outtarie?" Miss Betsey quickly lined up next to a tall girl, who knew her name was Dorothy, who was trembling hard. She didn't notice young Betsey's arrival since she looked frustrated. "Hello," young Betsey said, "this is a weekly check, isn't it? Why would you tremble?" "Someone brought a thing—horrible and dangerous, I would not like to mention it," she replied, as her squeaky voice radiates fear, "you know that, Di?" "Oh, how can she get it?" "No, no, Mrs Jeannie is coming!" Dorothy was frightened as Mrs Jeannie checked her purse, pockets, and some other part of her clothing, perhaps searching for the drugs. Since she didn't find anything, she turned around, and her gaze stopped at the young Betsey. "Miss… Betsey." "Diane Betsey, Mrs Jeannie," she replied, perhaps it would help Mrs Jeannie. However, she didn't look pleased—instead, she smiled at her. A lady like Mrs Jeannie would not smile or laugh at normal funny things, she does that when she has the opportunity to bring miseries to a student. "Well, Miss Diane Betsey, however, sadly we have to suspect you for this case. I hope you would tell us the truth," she smiled at Diane, and bent down so her face could have a full access to the close up figure of Diane. "Why is it me?" "Oh," the lady laughed, making every head in the room tilt to see the cause, "since you look like you have understood the way to sneak into this holy school, Miss Diane, we need to." "I didn't sneak the cat, Mrs Jeannie," Diane said, as she sounded like her tears were about to break down, "I swear, I don't." "Lord, very well explained, Miss Betsey. Now, if you mind, would you—" Mrs Jeannie stopped. All the eyes weren't looking at the two of them again. Instead, all of them were turning their heads and eyes, perhaps to find the culprit behind the loud noise that just happened. It was really loud, as tons of tins got tossed and bang together. However, it took away Mrs Jeannie and the staffs' attention, since they momentarily commanded all to go back to their bed. Diane thanked the culprit of the sound—she didn't need another detention day, so she went back to her room with a little humming sound. As she was about to enter her room, she met an older girl standing next to the stairs. She was staring at her nails before Diane approached her. "Hello," Diane said, "did you hear the din? It’s really loud." "I did," she replied, "it's mysterious, don't you think? There would be no living creatures able to make that noise. All of us were above, you know that?" "Oh, that could be. There was a cat snook in my room—Mrs Jeannie was mad at me, thinking that I brought the cat in—so it could've been another cat!" "Good point. Our school is guarded by never-ending staff, and you know Mrs Jeannie, she could kill every uninvited thing that enters her property." "The staff didn't guide every window. You know that cat is able to climb, Miss? I've seen a cat in my hometown, she jumped on my roof, and it's 4 feet!" Diane told the older girl brightly, and was excited to recall the memory. The girl stared at Diane, then smiled, "such a gigglemug you are. What's your name?" "Diane Betsey," she replied and seemed excited, "and you, Miss?" "Georgiana Roberts." Not so long after their chat, the bell tolls three times, signaling every kid to go to their own room. "Good night, Diane."
