Intimidation

Chapter 14

"What are you two doing?" Kason whispered.

The lamp didn't break and no one else got up so we were good.

I'm sure they know it's just us anyways.

"Someone's shining a light into our room window from outside and we're going to see who it is and what their doing" Lyla said.

He looked annoyed and worried at the same time.

"Not my idea. I'd rather be in my bed sleeping now" I said.

He sighed and waved his hand saying 'let's go' as he led the way.

"Absolutely not. Cam goes first. Who knows who it could be and you don't look like you know how to protect yourself less known us" Lyla said.

I looked at her and stopped walking.

"What? Why me? I don't even want to do this" I said.

"Please. Just to see who it is and what they want then we can come back" she said.

I turned around and walked towards the stairs and slowly walked down in case any of the boards were loose.

I walked down fully and waited for them to come down as I checked the other rooms just in case.

Once they were behind me again I walked faster towards the back porch door and unlocked it.

As I opened it slowly,I suddenly got angry at myself and also at Lyla for dragging me into this so late.

The cold air hit my face and body.

I stepped onto the porch with a lamp and a bat as Lyla and Kason followed behind me.

The noise was coming from our right and I put my finger to my lip signaling for them to stay quiet.

I moved closer to the porch light and turned it on quickly as a black figure ran towards us.

They were too close to make out who it was and we all fell to the ground as they pushed past us with something sharp and into the house.

"Mom! Dad! Someone's in the house!" I yelled.

We ran after them and Kason closed and locked the door behind him.

"You two take the kitchen and dining room. I'll get upstairs" I said.

Once I got up the stairs I heard something break from our room and I ran to get something to protect myself from the kitchen then slowly made my way back.

Just before I got to the doorway Kason and Lyla came up behind me as 2 of my brothers stood on the other side.

I kicked the door open and the person ran to the closet.

I ran to try to catch them before they could close it and I managed to keep it open.

One of my brothers came on my left as Kason stood on the right with another weapon as I opened the closet door and the person crouched down to hide their face.

"Who are you!? And what do you want?" I said.

"Get away from me or I will burn this whole house down too!" He said.

"What..do you mean 'too'?" Lyla said.

I backed up slowly as I tried to control my thoughts.

This could be the same guy who burned our apartment but then again it couldn't be.

It can't be.

I sat down on my bed as dad and my brothers got the man to his feet and took him out of the room and downstairs.

My head was spinning and I didn't want to think about this anymore.

I dropped my weapon on the side of my bed and layed down on my stomach to get some rest.

Lyla and Kason sat on the floor next to the door just in case anything happened.

We heard something slam downstairs and we all ran to see what was going on.

Dad had the man pinned to the floor in the living room and I noticed he had a cut on his right cheek going all the way down to his collarbone,which was still bleeding.

That freaked me out and I stepped back way too fast.

I fell over on my back and hit my head on something then everything went dark.

I woke up to my mom crying and bright lights all around me.

I couldn't tell where we were but I knew it wasn't a hospital nor the house we had just been in.

It was loud and I heard voices that were very unfamiliar but really really loud in my ears.

"What's going-ouch!" I tried to speak but my whole stomach hurt as soon as I did.

I looked over at mom and she didn't stop crying.

Dad looked worried and Lyla had tears in her eyes but didn't let them fall.

I looked at her as if asking 'what's wrong' and she touched my head gently.

"We will explain everything once this is over. Don't speak and remember we're right out here okay? Just don't think too much and do not try to get away. Trust me okay?" She said.

I nodded my head as 4 other people came over and picked me up slowly and carried me to a room a few feet away from my family.

They sat me down on a white bed as another lady closed the door and locked it.

These people didn't look like doctors ar all and I was starting to get nervous and anxious.

"What-mm" I tried to speak again but this time it hurt even more than before.

I usually don't cry but this pain was more than I've ever felt before and it was really hard not to let a few tears escape as I had to deal with the pain and not knowing what was going on.

"Please ma'am don't talk. I know you have a hard time trusting people but your family has let us know what to help you with. You cannot talk or it will only hurt you more. We need to fix the problem before it gets worse and we need you to take these to numb the pain" One of the ladies said.

I nodded and took the medicine and water.

Soon I felt really dizzy and tired and layed back onto the bed slowly with the help of the same people who carried me in here.

I saw that there were a lot of people in here but I couldn't make out any faces as my vision blurred and everything went black again.
