Chapter 12 Ruthless

962 Words
When Heidi kept quiet, Paul said, "Stay here, okay? I will be back in a minute. I'm just going in to tell him not to do anything rude to you." "Okay," Heidi finally said. Paul re-entered the private room and came up to Roland, who asked, "Where is she? Did she leave?" "Of course not. By the way, there's something I need to tell you…" Paul leaned in and whispered into Roland's ear. A smile appeared on Roland's face and he told Paul, "Man, you're ruthless. I can't believe you're doing that to your own girlfriend." Paul grinned. "She's not my girlfriend anymore. Besides, you want her, don't you? Even if we're still dating, I will still give her to you." Roland laughed uncontrollably and patted him on the shoulder. "Good boy." "Then, get ready. I will bring her in now." "Go ahead." "Roland, look, I've even given up my girl for you," Paul said, "You have to do as I ask and introduce me to Mr. Burton." "Relax. Consider it done." Paul left the room and told Heidi, "You can come in now. I've spoken to Roland about it. You can rest assured that he won't do anything to you anymore." "Okay." Heidi followed him back inside. She was obviously uneasy, so Paul said, "Come with me. It will be fine." He wrapped one hand around her waist and led her back to Roland, who said, "Sorry that I was so rude, Heidi. Please forgive me. Come, let's drink and forget that ever happened." Heidi took the glass of wine. "It's okay. Cheers!" "Cheers!" Roland raised his glass as well but his eyes secretly darted to the glass of wine in Heidi's hand. He was overjoyed when he saw her finishing the wine and immediately emptied his own glass. "Great! Enjoy yourself tonight, Heidi!" "Thanks, Roland." It did not take very long before Heidi felt a sudden and strong burst of drowsiness. She could not ward off the feeling at all. "Paul, why am I so sleepy? Dizzy too…" she told Paul. "Huh? What's wrong? Are you okay?" Paul asked, looking concerned. However, in Heidi's vision, his face became increasingly blurry. Her head then tilted to one side and she sank into a deep sleep. When she woke up again, she found herself in a hotel room. She woke up in a daze and realized that she was completely n***d. She turned her head and saw Roland asleep beside her! She sobered up at once, sat up, and let out a scream. She pulled the blanket to cover her body and tried to think but her mind was blank. Her actions awakened Roland, who asked drowsily, "Why the hell are you shouting? It's goddamn late! Are you crazy?" He yanked the blanket back and put it over his body. He turned around, showing Heidi his back. Without the blanket for cover, Heidi felt a deep sense of humiliation and grievance. Tears streamed down her face. She grabbed Roland and shook him awake. "What have you done to me? Tell me!" To her surprise, he smacked her hand away rudely and forcefully. He did not even turn around before saying, "Screw off! Don't go berserk here; I still need to sleep. If you want answers, ask Paul!" His voice was fierce and sinister. With tears still flowing down her face, Heidi grabbed her phone and called Paul. "Hey, Heidi." Paul's voice was surprisingly gentle. "Paul Foster, why did you do this to me?" she asked tearfully. "Huh? What did I do?" Paul seemed flabbergasted. "Bastard! I must have been blind to have dated you!" Heidi yelled through her tears. Roland turned his head in her direction impatiently and yelled, "Are you going to sleep or not? Get the f*ck out if you're not going to!" Heidi hung up. Still sobbing, she put on her clothes and left the hotel room. Roland continued to sleep until his phone rang the next morning. It was not early. He was still asleep because he had overexerted himself last night. Seeing that it was Paul's call, he answered it and said drowsily, "What is it? I'm still in bed." "You're still in bed? Sorry to disturb you. I will call you back later?" Paul immediately said with a smile. No one would have denied the fact that Paul was the perfect example of a lackey. It was amazing that he could still behave so subserviently in front of the man who had slept with his girlfriend. "Sure," Roland said, hanging up the phone. Paul was at home. After Simon's men beat him up at the karaoke bar, he decided to stay home for a few days to avoid embarrassment. He blamed it all on Simon. His resentment toward him was massive. Suddenly, he remembered Heidi and decided to call her. But she declined his call. He held his phone and said in annoyance, "Who does she think she is? That b*tch really thinks she's that important, huh." Meanwhile, Katya had driven Simon to the campus for his classes. Simon was pretty distracted as he walked to class. His mind was full of all the incidents that had taken place in the past few days. A car charged toward him head-on out of nowhere, nearly running him over. The car window slid down and a man poked his head out, yelling, "Watch where you're going!" Simon did not do or say anything because he knew that he should have been paying attention when he was on the road. However, he had already moved aside and most of the responsibility clearly fell on the driver. He looked up and saw that it was an Audi. The driver looked like a dandy fellow; probably a scion of some sort.
