The Pack Divides

503 Words
The air in the clearing turned heavy, suffocating even the strongest of wolves. Aurora’s heart thundered as three sets of eyes—each so different, yet inexplicably tethered to her—burned into her soul. Damon’s golden irises blazed like wildfire, raw fury threatening to consume the very ground he stood on. The rogue’s dark stare—wild, unchained, filled with shadows—held a dangerous hunger. And then, there was the third. A man cloaked in silence and mystery, his presence so chilling that even the earth seemed to bow before him. His eyes glowed silver, ancient and knowing, as if he had walked through centuries just to arrive at this moment. The pack, gathered around them, erupted into chaos. “This is impossible!” Beta Lucien’s voice broke through the noise, sharp and commanding. “The Moon Goddess has never tied one wolf to more than one mate, let alone three!” Growls echoed, snapping branches and sending frightened young wolves scrambling back. The elders whispered among themselves, some already calling Aurora cursed, others declaring it a sign of destiny. Aurora’s chest tightened. The bond—three threads of glowing energy—burned at her core. She could feel each of them, their emotions slamming into her like tidal waves: Damon’s rage, the rogue’s defiance, and the stranger’s eerie calm. “Mine.” Damon’s growl rumbled low, possessive and primal. He stepped forward, pulling Aurora toward him, his arm like iron. “The Goddess would never give you to anyone else. Not to a rogue. Not to…” He glared at the silver-eyed stranger. “Whatever he is.” The rogue smirked, lips curling in mocking defiance. “And yet, here we are. You may be the alpha’s chosen, Damon, but fate doesn’t bend to your ego. She’s ours.” Gasps rang out through the crowd. Before Damon could strike, the third man finally spoke, his voice smooth and deep, laced with an unnatural power that silenced the clearing. “She is more than yours. She is mine… and through her, so is destiny.” The pack shivered. Some bowed their heads without understanding why, their instincts recognizing something beyond wolf, beyond rogue, beyond alpha. Aurora’s knees buckled, the sheer weight of it crushing her. “Why me?” she whispered, voice breaking. “Why would the Goddess curse me with three?” The silver-eyed stranger turned to her slowly, his expression unreadable. “Because you are not just a wolf, Aurora Blackwell. You are the key.” The world stilled. The pack froze. Damon’s fury faltered for a heartbeat. The rogue tilted his head, his smirk faltering as if even he hadn’t expected that revelation. Aurora’s breath caught. The key? To what? The bond inside her pulsed once more, and this time, she realized it wasn’t just desire or power tying them together. It was prophecy, alive and breathing, ready to tear the world apart. And everyone in the pack knew it. The bond wasn’t a blessing. It was war.
