I got a surprise call from my father yesterday saying he was on his way down to spend time with me. I have never had him do this. Sure he came up for parents day when I was in college, but just out of the blue to visit? And he will be by himself, no mom?
Made me wonder what was going on. I hope my mom is ok. It’s weird she wasn’t coming with him for this visit.
I was waiting at the airport pickup area for him. His plane landed 20 minutes ago. I saw him emerge from the automatic doors of the airport, I got out of my car, so he could find me.
“Evan, son!” My dad said as he got close to me. He grabbed me and pulled me close to him in an embrace.
