First day and New friends

Ava's P.O.V

I got in the car and my dad had an unreadable expression on his face, “See you have made friends then petal?” he said with a teasing tone, he was now wearing a grin on his face, “Knew I should of walked you in” he said whilst laughing, I slapped his arm and rolled my eyes “Just drive” I said in an irritated voice. “Thanks for telling me it was Joe and Amy's school I was going to, by the way” I said in a sarcastic tone. He could tell I was annoyed with him but he just ruffled my hair. “What difference would it of made? Some times you have to enter a situation unprepared to see how you deal with it” he said in a very odd tone.

” Talking of unprepared who was the boy you was talking to just now?”he asked me looking slightly intrigued “his name is Cole I literally ran into him after your little game this morning” I said with an annoyed tone “Is he the only friend you made today petal?” he asked, but I felt like there was a different question he wanted to ask “erm no I made friends with a girl called Lana, she's really nice, she doesn't put up a front which is refreshing” I said, he smiled lightly as if I answered the question he hadn't asked. “When we get home, go get changed into gym clothes then come and train with me, no if's or but's” he quickly finished his sentence as he saw me roll my eyes at him.

After getting changed I slowly made my way into our new gym it was huge compared to our last one, I couldn't help look at it in awe even though I didn't want to show my dad I was impressed. “It's about time” he said as he threw a knife at my head. I dodged it with ease, he threw another this time I leaped into the air. He had been doing this with me since I was five, why I don't know whenever I asked him I just got your a small girl and you need to be prepared for attacks. He's right though I am tiny 4 ft 11 to be exact I haven't grown since I was twelve, until I met Lana and some of her friends today I thought it was just me, cause at my old school everyone was taller than me. Me and my dad trained for an hour and half every afternoon, we would practise several skills before I went for a shower and then came back down to join them for dinner. 

My mom was home at this point “How was your first day at school petal” mom asked me, “It was okay how was work?” I asked back, my dad came bounding over to my mom scooping her petite frame into his arms he kissed her briefly before a stupid smirk wiped over his face.“Ava made a friend” he said in a teasing tone. I could feel my cheeks blush but tried to cover it up “Yeah her names Lana” I said quickly not giving him much chance to interrupt.  

Once I had finished eating my meal I called it a night, I found myself looking through my clothes to pick out an outfit ready for the next day which is something I never do, I'm always unprepared. I don't care how I look usually so what am I doing? I climbed into bed and was greeted by a lovely dream about Cole his dimples and amazing smile where so sexy, his lips where inviting and his voice was like a siren calling to me. 

My annoying Alarm clock went off earlier today, I let out a big yawn and switched it off, I was going to roll over and go back to sleep when his face invaded my head. I was excited to get to school for the first time in my life, maybe it was the dreams of Cole I had been having all night long. I guess making a new friend like Lana was another good reason either way it was going to be a good day. Don't ask me how but I knew it, I could feel it.  

I quickly showered using my favourite body wash candy floss and raspberry it smells amazing, I got dressed wearing my skinny jeans and pink crop top, I spent longer than usual on my hair curling it towards the ends so it looked wavy and framed my face, I even wore make up but only a bit of mascara and tinted lip balm. I didn't wear my baggy hoody as for some reason I felt so self assured and comfortable today, I didn't need to blend into my surroundings at this school.

When I left my room I could hear whispers coming from downstairs “Do you not think she's going to work this out sending her to that school?” my mom asked in a irritated hushed tone “Hopefully it will save us a job” my dad said with a low giggle “We agreed” my mom hissed at my dad. I shut my bedroom door loudly to break the conversation and then walked down the stairs loudly, I didn't want them to know I over heard there weird conversation, although there words did have me feeling slightly confused.  

What where they hiding from me? My dad looked at me with a glint in his eyes “someone's dressed up today petal” he said in a teasing tone, my mom slapped his arms “leave her alone she looks lovely” she said kissing the top of my head and placing a plate of pancakes in front of me, yum blueberries and syrup how she know what I will want for breakfast every day, is still shocking to me. I guess nearing my eighteenth birthday if she doesn't know me by now she never will, or is she really psychic.  

My mom smiled sitting down next to my dad, she gave him a look ushering him into something. My dad cleared his throat to get my attention “I got you an early birthday present but it comes with two conditions” he said smiling, I looked at him suspiciously hiding my excitement “Tell me what it is and then I will tell you if I accept your conditions” I said laughing at him “how can you agree to conditions when you don't know what they are? I'll tell you the conditions, then show you your present, you can decide whether to accept or not” he said “okay!” I said faking a frustrated sigh.

My dad straightened up in his chair “okay you need to get up earlier to come on a run with me and no boys in your present petal” he said winking at the last part, I glared at him “How much earlier are we talking?” I asked “Forty-five minutes, it will be no more than a half an hour run I promise” he said this in a pleading tone, “show me my present and I will give you your answer” I say excitedly, he covers my eyes and starts walking me in a direction it took us a few minutes and a few steps down and then he uncovered my eyes.

I shrieked in excitement It was a new car, a black, shiny toyota 4x4 “I loveeeeeeeeeee it!” I shouted in joy “so your okay with the conditions” my dad asked again with a smirk “yes yes yessssss” I say jumping up and down in joy, throwing myself into my mom and dads arms. “You can drive yourself to school today then petal” dad said kissing me on my cheek, I was literally grinning like a Cheshire cat “Thank you both so much” I said kissing them both on the cheek before leaving for school.

I pulled onto the car park with my music on loudly singing along to the song on the radio, parking in the first empty space I found. I switched off my engine and double checked my hair in my mirror, I climbed out of the car in my own little world when I heard a thud. I shut the door and curiously looked to see what I hit and when I saw who it was I gasped so loud covering my mouth with my hand “Cole oh my I'm so sorry” I said feeling so embarrassed cheeks flushing Scarlett. I bend down to him, putting my hand on his shoulder and felt weird tingles that made my hair stand on end for a moment, trying to concentrate on the scene before me.  

“It's okay” he said his breath fanning at my lips before standing up he was rubbing his head and laughing slightly, I liked his laugh it was sweet and sincere “Nice car Ava, is it new?” he asked me, curiosity dancing in those deep chocolate brown eyes of his. “I'm eighteen in a month, it's an early birthday present and thank you” I say, a huge smile filled his face which was beyond odd. “How long have you lived here anyway” I asked trying to change the subject, “All of my life, I love it! There's something about the forest, it's just so calm and peaceful” he said and you could see in his eyes he was completely spelled by it. I couldn't help but smile at him, his eyes met mine for a second and the gold flecks started shining, my hand was up ready to sweep his curly locks as my mouth moved “Your eyes are kind of beautiful” I say in a daze, I felt myself stirring into them, my hand just millimetres away from his face realising what I had said and was about to do I stood up immediately “I'm sorry I probably shouldn't of said that” embarrassed beyond belief again I run away quickly.

Cole's P.O.V

“She called our eyes beautiful” I said to max, he howled in excitement. I could see how embarrassed she was again so I thought about keeping my distance, obviously not too far max wouldn't allow that. We shift at sixteen but can usually find our mates from eighteen although some never get gifted with one or can't find them. I felt so lucky “It seems like she's starting to sense the mate bond but what is she?” I asked my wolf, but he couldn't sense it in her either. Is she a wolf or a human, there's something about her that I just can't quite put my finger on, it didn't matter in one way because she was my mate but there was this nagging in my mind that I just needed to know. I decided at break I would go talk to my uncle, see if he knows anything about her or her parents.

I knocked at his office door and waited patiently, he answered the door “Hello Cole can I help you?” he said with a small smile on his face. “Yes actually but can we talk in your office?” I asked him pleadingly, he looked at me with curious eyes “Of course” he said. Opening the door and shutting it behind us, his office is the only room in the school that was sound proof. I took a deep breath and sighed slightly “Cole, is everything okay?” he asked now his eyes showed concern “I'v fount my mate, but I don't know anything about her” I stated in one quick sentence, his face was a small smirk now “I know, it's Ava? Isn't it?” he stated more than asked me. There has been no one else new around here in ages so I guess it must have been a lucky guess on his part. “Yes it's Ava, how did you?” I asked with scrutinising eyes “Never mind, is her mom or dad on the council, or is she a wolf? I know she's not eighteen yet but surely she knows she's not human?” I asked all the questions at once before I burst. Even though our wolfs start making themselves know from a young age we don't do our first shift until were sixteen.

He looked at me with furrowed brows “it's a hard one to explain Cole, because I don't know the answers as to what she is. Her mom is on the council but Ava believes she is a human, her parents have let her live a normal life as they don't know what she is either” he replied, huh her parents don't know what she is what kind of answer is that. “How can they not know what she is?” I asked more curious than ever about her now, but uncle Joe was just looking at me blank faced “I'm sorry Cole but it's not my place to discuss this with you, it's her parents place and until there ready to tell her then I'm afraid you will have to be patient” my uncle said this very clearly and I knew he wasn't going to budge in answering any more of my questions.  

So Ava 'thinks she is a human' but they don't know what she is? “what do I do with that information” I asked my wolf but of course he was as confused as me. When lunch time came I needed to talk to Ava so I decided to sit at her table that day. The factions all looked at me odd as I sat with Ava and the Fey Lana, “Hey Ava is it okay if I sit with you?” I asked politely, looking at the Fey so she would know my intentions. One thing Fey's are good at is reading a person, “Yes of course it is” she replied sweetly, hopefully she has relaxed a bit from this mornings chat. “How has your day been?” I asked her just to make small talk, she looked at me with a slight blush in her cheeks and a gold sparkle in her eyes again, I can't tell what she is but I know she's not a demon or a witch. “It's been okay Lana has been catching me up on the work I have missed” she replied, “That's good to hear, what do you think about hanging out over the weekend?” I asked her, as I said it I hear a dumb laugh behind me and a slap on the back, it was Brett “Hey ladies can I sit with you?” he said mostly looking at me “Sure” Ava answered but was she talking to him or to me?

She must of seen the confusion in my face “I will have to let you know, my dad makes me train on a weekend usually” she said in a frustrated tone, although she seemed to have let this slip unintentionally, this also peeked Lana's attention. Realisation hit us both “He makes you train?” I asked in a curious tone, I didn't want her to think that it was an odd thing to do “My dad makes me train morning and night too” I replied quickly, I saw the relief wash over her face. “Yeah what's that about, he's making me go on morning runs now too, hence the early birthday present” she said annoyed, I almost laughed because of how adorable she looked when she scrunched her nose. I spent the rest of the day making small conversation with Ava and it just felt so natural being around her. I hope she felt the same way about me, I wondered how much she felt the bond or if she even felt it at all.

Home time rolled around way to quickly again, I was stood waiting for Axel when Lana walks towards me “Your her mate?” she questioned me with a confused look on her face “My wolf thinks so yes” I answered her honestly as there is no point lying to a Fey “I sense something in her but I can't pin point what it is, but I feel a pull” she said to me with confusion on her face, that's odd a Fey that can't read someone. In the distance I saw Faiban focusing in on us, I glared and turned my back moving Lana, “Oh okay that's a first for you isn't it? I can sense something too” I whisper knowing there are ears trying to listen in on our conversation “but I don't know what, I guess were just going to have to wait until she's of age” I replied to Lana who nodded her head and then walked away without another word. Fey are born with there powers but often don't know how to access them until there inner fey becomes present in there early teens.  

Once me and Axel got home I went upstairs to get changed into my gym clothes ready for training, Brett's dad Atlas trains us as he is the current beta. He is always harder on me because I am the future Alpha of our pack, I know my dad needs me to be ready. They kept on that something was coming but never divulged what it was, “Hey Cole wolf form today” Atlas said with a smirk, I went behind a tree to undress before I shifted into my black wolf. Max was larger than most because of my alpha blood, he was happy to be out until Atlas's light brown wolf zaine lunged at us, we dodged the attack and patted his back with our large paw to show I could of bitten him. He twists quickly and lunges again. This time he was quicker and pinned me, but I used my back legs to kick him off and lunged at him pinning him with my mouth agape over his throat. He mind linked me “good job, you can shift back now for knife control” In our pack we fight in both forms as you never know when you could be taken by surprise. After forty five minutes we were running around the borders of our pack before heading in for a shower and our evening meal.

The pack house was already filling up as everyone had finished there run and group training. “You did very well at training today Cole” my dad said with a proud smile on his face “Thanks dad, I have something I need your advice on, can we talk somewhere quiet” I said which made my dads eyes curious “Okay I'm all ears son, let's go to my office” he said calmly, I followed him into his large office. I rubbed the back of my neck as I was a bit nervous to discuss the mate bond with my dad. “There's a new girl in school, I can't sense what she is, but uncle Joe said she is unaware of the supernatural because of her parents orders, but dad she's, she urm she is my mate!” my dad looked at me but his face wasn't giving anything away.

“Okay I know who she is son, well more I know her parents. They are both from the supernatural world and her father was going to be the Alpha of uncle Joe's pack but because of his mate he passed his pack to uncle Joe they used to be best friends” he said but I felt like there was something he was holding back from me “So she's an Alpha's daughter? Why would he pass over his pack” I asked “It's not quite that simple son, she may not have a wolf, please don't ask any more from me as I can't discuss it with you” he said in a plain tone. So now I know she has a Alpha dad but might not have a wolf, I am so confused, why all the secrecy about my mate and her parents. Both me and my dad left his office and joined the rest of the pack for our evening meal.

I went to bed feeling adamant on finding out more about her, I needed to know plus max was anxious because he doesn't know what she is yet either, we can't sense anything, he can't even sense a wolf to talk to. I know I need to stop obsessing about this, yet I feel like I can't think straight. Since the moment I laid my eyes on her beautiful face she has completely took over my brain, to say I'm truly overwhelmed would be an understatement. I spent most of the night tossing and turning, not getting much rest allowing her to consume every molecule in my body. I wondered what it will be like to hold her hand, to stroke her face and to kiss her cherry red plump lips. I was merciless to her and she didn't even know it yet, she is my addiction.

The next morning I woke up and let max out for a run as I felt his jitters, he enjoyed feeling free and pounding his paws through the dirt it also helped me clear my thoughts for a while which at the moment I needed desperately. We ran for half an hour before going back for a shower, I put on my black jeans and white shirt, just giving my hair a ruffle with some wax. I went down for breakfast and said good morning to my parents and Axel, I managed to fill my stomach with bacon, eggs and pancakes. Even after our confusing conversation about Ava last night I still feel excited to get to school, just to see her and be near her.  

I caught her scent walking up to the school to see a Faiban talking to my mate. I felt a rage of jealousy and anger how dare he talk to her. I looked at him with my fists balled, he rolled his eyes but had the common sense to excuse himself. As she turned around I caught her eye and a smile washed over her face, those same gold flecks mixing into her aqua eyes. “Cole hey some of the people at this school are a bit odd” she said under a whisper but of course I heard her. It made me chuckle because she has no idea and yet it seems she may be the one that is odd “Yeah, well at least you have boring old me to talk to” I said smiling “How was your morning run?” I asked her and she seemed surprised that I had remembered “early” she answered slightly sarcastically and I loved it.

We walked to our first class, Lana came running up to us “hey guys you both okay?” she asked, for a fey she's acting odd. Maybe she had been doing her own research over Ava I'll try ask her later “I'm good but tired I hate early morning runs already” said Ava to Lana and they both laughed. As we entered the class room Faiban's eyes washed over Ava he was analysing her, he shifted his eyes to me and glared. I turned to Lana and she rolled her eyes at him “So what was you and Faiban talking about before anyway Ava?” I asked more so that Lana knew he was hovering around her, “He was asking what breed I am” she answered me shrugging not really understanding what he meant, I rubbed the back of my head. “Then he was talking about us hanging out at some club for the gifted” she said her face scrunching up “I don't have a clue what that's supposed to mean, but you walked over before I rejected the idea” she said smiling.  

Lana's eyes met mine and I could see her glare at him with her ice cold eyes, I wonder why he wants to take her to that seedy club? I was also pleased that she was going to reject him, maybe he likes her too. Either way I need to protect her from his kind there not exactly the nicest of the supernatural community. Rumours of demons being seen with vampires recently was unnerving, if both are allies this could be what my dad and his beta have been preparing me for. Lana spoke to Ava this time “Ava I would be a rubbish friend if I didn't warn you Faiban and his group are bad news, avoid them please I would hate for you to fall into a bad crowd” she said it in a soft but stern tone.

I was grateful the warning came from Lana, as it may have come across as possessive from me. “Don't worry I am quite happy with the friends I already have” Ava said smiling more at me than Lana. We all fount seats as far away from Faiban as possible, Ava sat next to Lana but I sat the other side of her and Brett fount his way next to me “What's with that snake giving out daggers, doesn't he know I could rip him in half without hesitation” Brett said a bit too loudly, as Ava over heard him she gave a suspicious look. “Always one to over exaggerate hey Lana” I said rolling my eyes, luckily Brett realised what he had said and belly laughed loudly. The end of the school day came and I wasn't happy that I would have to spend another night away from my little mate, she was just so much fun to be around. I have got to find a way to spend more time with this girl.
