CHAPTER 13: THE RIGHT THINGS TO DO It was June already; the summer was coming, the sun was shining, the sky was clear and it was hot. John and Melanie decided to spend this wonderful day together. They had breakfast in the coffee shop where they met (for their first conversation). Then they went to Venice Beach: they played beach volleyball, they swam (John did, Melanie could not swim), they drove water scooters (with life-jackets), they had lunch at a bistro near the beach. They seemed to be having a very good time. In the afternoon they went to Melanie’s house; she parked her car in the backyard, John parked his outside the house.
