CHAPTER 16:
FACE TO FACE
Melanie was running around one of the ruined buildings with her phone in her hand tracking Jason. Soon she found him lying on the ground, shot four times in the torso – he was still alive. Melanie got scared and ran to him:
“Jason! Oh, no!”
“Melanie, why are you here?” said Jason groaning.
“I wanted to see if you… you’re gonna be okay… It shouldn’t have… I didn’t mean to---”
“The Crime Killers are here, the ones that kill people... Well, there's only one, actually. You have to get outta here now!”
“I’m not leaving you here!”
“The deal was to… flush them out… And damn if we didn’t, huh?” he was gasping and spitting blood.
“What?! You… never told me that! Are you outta your goddamn mind?!”
“I had to try… for you.”
“Me?! I never told you to get into a lion’
