CHAPTER 19:
PERSONAL ATTACKS
The evening was closer, the clouds were all over the sky, and the wind was blowing. Melanie got out of Kevin's house and went for her car angry. John came behind her and said:
“Melanie, wait.”
“Get away from me!” snapped Melanie without stopping or looking at him.
“Please! I know it’s not an easy thing to accept, but you have to---”
“Spare me this s**t!” she stopped and faced him. “I told you it was none of your business! You should not have come with me! It was a mistake that we even spoke to each other in the first place! I’ll go home and I’ll forget that this day even happened!”
Melanie got into her car and John said:
“What about those guys?!”
“I’m not a criminal – I’m safe! You were – you’re on your own!”
